“ FIVE OF A KIND “
Brass Quintet

The brass quintet “ Five of a Kind “ was founded in December of 1994 by Wendy Grasdahl and Clarence Samuelson. The first performance for the group was for a wedding on January 7, 1995 in Devon, AB. Since that time the group has performed extensively for a wide variety of events including church services and weddings, for school demonstrations and workshops, recitals, summer park concerts and in conjunction with handbell choirs and performances with major choral organizations.

Wendy and Clarence have remained the mainstays of Five of a Kind throughout its history, with various other local musicians filling in the other positions. Eila Peterson is the next most long-standing member, having joined in 1997 on baritone and trombone. Dave Wiley has been with the ensemble for the past 3 years, and Laura Snyder is the most recent addition to the group joining in late 2011.

The philosophy of the group has always been to rehearse as regularly as possible, to play the best brass music available, and to support and enjoy working with the other members of the ensemble.
