Deborah Alexander, MES, MCIP, RPP — Principal

Deborah graduated from York University with an Honours Degree in Geography and History in 1997. Deborah then pursued Graduate Studies at York University through the Faculty of Environmental Studies where she obtained a Master’s Degree in Urban Environmental Planning and Design in 2002.

Deborah has worked within the field of Land Use Planning since 2000, in both the public and private sectors and is a Registered Professional Planner in the Province of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners. As a Registered Professional Planner, Deborah is governed by the Professional requirements of CIP and OPPI.

Deborah began her career as a student planner in private consulting during summer breaks from her graduate studies. After graduation, Deborah began a nine-year period as a Municipal Planner, first with the Town of Georgina, then with the Town of Richmond Hill. Deborah returned to private consulting in 2008, culminating with the establishment of her firm Alexander Planning Inc.

Deborah’s experience within both the public and private sectors has resulted in a broad range of planning experience including Project Management for various planning processes including Plans of Subdivision, High Density Residential Condominiums, Commercial Condominiums, Site Plans and Committee of Adjustment processes.

Deborah also has extensive experience in the interpretation of Provincial Planning Policy and the preparation of Official Plan Amendments, Secondary Plan Amendments, Zoning By-laws, Subdivisions and Site Plan documents and supporting Planning Justification documents. Deborah has also provided expert testimony at the Ontario Municipal Board.

Deborah established the firm of Alexander Planning Inc. in response to her desire to operate a planning consulting firm specializing in the provision of planning services to home owners and developers who prefer hands-on management of the development projects. Alexander Planning is committed to maintaining customer service and follow up throughout the development process.
