MxTube 1.5a

MxTube MxTube has made it’s way into Cydia. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to see it so quickly based on a post written by the developer a few days ago saying that MxTube was going to be delayed due to a few bugs. It seems the developer has made a compromise releasing version 1.5a. It basically makes MxTube run on the 2.0 firmware…there are a few new feature but, it is not the full MxTube 2.0 version. The new features include; Background Downloader (which allows you to continue to download videos even after closing the application), Video Descriptions and the ability to watch videos in MxTube before downloading them. All of which are very cool new features!!

When you first open MxTube 1.5a, you will need to accept the License Agreement. From here you will get a donate pop-up and then be brought to the main page of the application. The overall application looks the same. You still have the options; [Read more…]

MxTube 2.0 available soon!

MxTube Every once and a while we still get random emails asking us what ever happened to MxTube 2.0, a YouTube video downloader. Well, ever since we first learned that the developer of MxTube was working on MxTube 2.0, I have been keeping a close eye on his blog and it seems he is finishing up the development of MxTube 2.0 and we should see it in the next few days!

MxTube2 dev has been going great! Just like before everything is just falling into place perfectly. So far MxTube2 has not crashed once and doesn’t have a single bug. Also, one small but cool feature I have been able to build is dynamic thumbnail loading for the search function. Just like the youtube app, mxtube2 will only load thumbnails in view after scrolling has stopped. This improves the speed of the application considerably.

I’m really excited to see what MxTube2 will bring. This is one of my favorite apps, it even made it to the list of my Top Ten Apps. Can’t wait until it is released!

MxTube 1.0

MxTube MxTube is a YouTube video downloader. When you open the app you will see a lower menu bar with four options; Featured, Search, Videos and Downloads. I’m not exactly sure what the Featured Page does…as of right now it just has a Not Found error. The Search option allows you to search YouTube for videos…for example, I used the key words baby laughing. It then brought up a list of relevant videos listing them from most viewed to least viewed. With each video in the list you are given a thumbnail of the video, the title of the video, the number of stars it has, the number of times it has been viewed, how long it is and who it was uploaded by. iNitsua Portrait Theme Tutorial – iNav WinterBoard Theme

iNitsua Portrait initsuaportrait1 Ok, iNitsua Portrait is a pretty sweet iNav inspired theme. There is also a landscape version of the theme but, I’m going to be concentrating on the portrait version. I’m not going to tell you how long it took me to set this theme up but I’m hoping my guide below will help you set it up in much, much, much less time than it took me!

The guide below looks a little long and probably a bit crazy but, it is because I walked through every step.

Leaf Theme for WinterBoard

WinterBoardThe very popular leaf theme has been ported to WinterBoard, now with an illumintated background. This is a very well done theme. I have a few things I would like to see changed. I don’t like it when words are broke up. So I would change the Weather icon to be all one word. The author shows in the Text & Settings icon that this many letters can be squeezed in. Also, the new Installer doesn’t have an icon. Knowing the history of this theme, the author is quick to add icons, so I’m sure this will be updated soon. There are a few icons I’m seeing that are compatible already such as Winterboard, Palringo, Enigmo, World Racing GTS, Aqua Forest & MxTube. This is great! Of course there are over a thousand apps in the App Store now so it may take a while to get them all :)

One last thing that I don’t like is that the Leaf theme automatically makes the icon labels transparent. This is kewl for the icons that have labels but for all the others I have that aren’t in the Leaf theme, I have to go by the icon alone. Since WinterBoard already has the option of transparent icon labels, I think this feature should be left to be changed through WinterBoard. [Read more…]

vWallpaper 0.93 & SkrewCommon 1.49

vWallpaper The update to SkrewCommon and vWallpaper gives vWallpaper some nice new features. When you select Video Ringtones you will notice that the Select Video option has been changed to Select Global Video and that there is a new Manage Contacts feature. The Select Global Video option still allows you to choose one video ringtone for all incoming calls. A cool new feature is the Manage Contacts feature which allows you to select video ringtones for specific contacts! When you select Manage Contacts, you will get a list of your contacts. You can then choose a contact and it will bring up the list of videos you have downloaded. Just select the video you would like as that contact’s ringtone. You will then be brought back to the contact list. The contact’s with video ringtones assigned to them will have a delete icon next to them. To delete a video ringtone, tap the icon and then select Delete. It will only delete the video ringtone and not the actual contact. [Read more…]

Apps Not Possible on SDK

BigBoss wrote an article not too long ago about the applications that would not be developed on SDK and not allowed in the AppStore due to Apple’s developing rules. Just to clarify, these applications would not be allowed in the AppStore however, they are available through jailbreaking. They are not harmful to your iPhone or iPod Touch they are just against Apple’s rules for the AppStore. You could still have these application on your jailbroken iPhone. You have to remember that Apple does not allow any application that affect the System files. So, things like Customize, SummerBoard, FontSwap, IntelliScreen, iToday, StatusStyle, MXTube, MyMedia, biteSMS (the list goes on and on) would not be allowed. Also, applications that run in the background would also not be allowed such as; MobileChat, iRadio, Colloquy, PocketTouch and many more. [Read more…]

TimeCapsule 0.30b1 & 0.30b2

TimeCapsule The update to version 0.30b1 of TimeCapsule adds a few more apps to the list of those that can be backed-up.
