Happy Second Birthday ABH

Happy Second Birthday ABH

A Re-Cap Of Year 2

Happy Second Birthday ABH – My animal awareness blog – A Beating Heart is two years old today. I launched it on February 14, 2013 – a nod to the day of hearts and love and in recognition of the fact that every sentient being has “A Beating Heart”.

RIGHT FACING - HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY

“Because I was feeling that I no longer knew how to be in the world – this animal blog – A Beating Heart was and is my way of being part of the Light”

This was how I felt in 2013. I now know that what I do matters and that the smallest contribution to animal activism anywhere in the world is incredibly important.

So Do What You Can!

It has been another busy year in animal activism. The challenges are greater than ever – the need for awareness has never been more pressing. Governments continue to be dis-engaged in the need for animal rights. People continue to hide their heads in the sand and cry – “I don’t want to know” – what they really mean is – “I don’t want to change”.

HUMAN - HEADS IN SAND

Taiji and the Faroe Islands continue – elephant and rhino poaching are at all time highs.  The barbaric cruelty towards animals is unprecedented in its ferocity. Crush videos are posted with alarming regularity. The global seal slaughters are rampant. Canned hunting facilities are growing in numbers. Zoo, aquarium, rodeo and circus cruelty are commonplace and factory farming denies its victims any degree of compassion or decency. The egregious violations against animals are evident in every country on earth. No creature is immune.

We have debased our fellow sentient beings (and in the process ourselves) to such a degree that there is no place to look but up – and when I do look to the skies – I see light. As more and more people become engaged with our planet and our fellow creatures – the energy in the world is lifted to a higher plane. Marches and significant protests are happening all over the planet. Young people are making kinder choices – kids are doing amazing things and adults are learning that there are other options than the ones they were taught in their parents’ homes.

LIGHT - POPPIES

We have choices. We can ask questions. We can expect and demand answers. We can join forces with like-minded people. We don’t need to just be good little “robot citizens” – paying our taxes on time and nodding a “perpetual yes”. Governments  work for us and it is time that they remember that fact and are held accountable.
