As you may have heard, Facebook is shaking things up. They have introduced their new design, which is called ‘Timeline.’ I have already set this up on my personal Facebook page and I think it is pretty groovy, thus far.
Being in my “mid-twenties” and getting a Facebook account in 2006, I have a very large timeline that is now available for you to creep around on.
I have also found myself rediscovering my past and cleaning out some of the skeletons in my virtual closet. Skeletons? What skeletons? Well, here is a summary of my life from 2006 until now (I have nothing to hide because everything that I have done has made me who I am)!
Summer of 2005-2006: I lived in Greece for 3 months. I was bartending, serving, travelling, beaching and had a few drinks….here and there. This was before I had Facebook (or even knew what that was).
Fall of 2006: I got Facebook so I could connect with all of my friends I made while living in Greece.
2006-2007: I finished my Public Relations and Management program at the U of W, worked at lululemon full time and worked in the nightclubs in Winnipeg.
2007-2008: I lived in Edmonton where I worked at lululemon and took out pub-crawls.
2008-present: I live in Vancouver, own a PR company, launched Living Free Canada and figured out the path I wanted to go down.
Looking back on the last 6 digital years of my life I have a few tips to the people of our future:
Tip 1: Do not get a tongue ring if you like to stick your tongue out in pictures.
Tip 2: If it is not something that you won’t show your grandma, don’t post it on Facebook (picture, words, video….anything). This is something I have always believed.
Tip 3: Do not drink and Facebook. If you do drink make sure you are of legal age and that all you are doing is poking-if you MUST be online.
Tip 4: Cussing is trashy both online and offline. Don’t do it.
Anyways, to all of you “new people” in my life, enjoy getting to know me and discovering my past. I have nothing to hide, do you?
