I'm inspired by the city and its ever changing landscapes. Growing up in Northern Ontario, I had the opportunity to visit the city on vacations, but it wasn't until I enrolled at Sheridan College for the Glass program that I was given the opportunity to live in an urban landscape. Once there though, I found myself missing the forests and natural environments surrounding my small home town. In my work and life I am attempting to find a balance between these two opposing landscapes and to bring them together without losing the qualities that make each one unique.
I choose to express my thoughts through the use of glass and mixed media. As I am drawn to optic qualities of glass as it reflects not only the images etched onto the surfaces but the viewer themselves and its surroundings. The use of mixed media alongside glass components stems from my own personal desire to collect and hoard items from the places and people that I’ve encountered throughout the years.
