About Us

Canada

To diversify outside of Germany, Becker and Kries founded B.U.K. Investments Ltd. in 1981, acquiring buildings and land for development and ultimately creating a portfolio of approximately 1.2 million square feet of industrial and flex buildings throughout the Lower Mainland of Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

The Canadian successes include the development of the International Business Park and Crestwood Place in Richmond, two projects in the Tilbury area of Delta, a retail mall in Coquitlam and a light industrial complex on the Langley By-Pass. Other industrial properties acquired include Marine Way Business Centre in Burnaby and two major warehouses on Annacis Island and one on Vancouver Island.

B.U.K. Investments continues to grow its portfolio with future re-development plans while maintaining its long-term investment strategy.

Germany

Becker & Kries was established in Berlin in 1945 by Georg Becker and Gunter Kries and is now one of the largest private, family businesses in Germany.  The company began by purchasing and renovating historical buildings, as well, in 1964, Becker & Kries acquired Berliner Union Film, a campus of studios for TV and film productions (the operations and facilities were sold in 2016).  The primary business of Becker & Kries continues to be commercial and residential real estate ownership and development, owning approximately 2.5 million square feet of commercial space and managing approximately 5,500 apartment units in a portfolio of more than 214 properties.  The German portfolio includes a number of prominent buildings located on the well-known retail street of Kurfurstendamm in the heart of downtown Berlin.

The head office for Becker & Kries is at Meinekestrasse 25, Berlin; a 47,000 square foot heritage building (1898) located just off Kurfurstendamm.
