It's me. Alex. And this is my personal battle with self-discovery and self-expression. Recently an architecture student, now a young professional in Toronto trying to find his own voice within art making and expression.

Even when the world is filled with sorrow
I will keep painting for that better tomorrow

A repaint of my 2009 drawing, Hope and Despair. Some people have mentioned how this new version feels more hopeful than the original. I feel that way too. I’ve been very happy these days, and it feels like everything will be alright again :)

Thank you again to everyone who reached out and supported me when I was feeling down during the beginning of this year. I’ve been working on a lot of different projects, and I’m excited to share with everyone when things are ready!

I’ll also be posting a video tutorial of how this was created by integrating 3D backgrounds in a few days. Stay tuned!

Chainarong Kongklin: Tipping the Scales

Chainarong Kongklin is a well-established Thai painter & sculptor who has won numerous awards over the last 3 decades. He graduated from Silpakon University in Bangkok with an MFA in painting. He uses comical exaggerations & extremes in his paintings to draw attention to imbalances in our modern lives; such as overweight children as heroes, controversial political figures as chubby children or portraits of teens lit only by the LCD screens which engross them.

Street art by Stinkfish

Stinkfish’s work is created, primarily, by portraying a variety of random faces artistically. He explains that he loves to carry a camera with him. This camera is then used to take pictures of random people, who are not always aware he is taking a picture, and from these photographs, he turns the images into stencils. He chooses intriguing photographs found during travel of strangers. Once these pictures are taken, he then decides to which selected ones will be used for wall art.
