A Simple Tuesday Post

This is just a simple post with some "green" pictures to rest your eyes upon ...
My diving frog starts you off with his comical pose ? .. I wish I had a tiny pool for him to dive into here .. but you can stretch your imagination, right ?
A few rain drops on a blade of day lily foliage ..with lavender supporting them ; )
I have dill, butterfly weed, cone flowers upon cone flowers this year .. a geranium or two on the side .. but truly as much as I can plant to attract those winged wonders to rest in my garden.
Sidalcea 'Party Girl"with 'Summer Nights" heleopsis, still very green but biding their time to shine at the launching party when they bloom !
Royal Purple Smokebush ... you can not beat it for fantastic rain drop bubbles ... it is perfect : )

Just a little look through the astilbe .. Black Lace Sambucus,... to the other side of the border : )
My Japanese Painted Ferns .................. tell me that they are not restful and I will say "You are not looking close enough or long enough !!" keep looking and RELAX a little !

See what I mean ??

Is this Monday ???

I'm scatter brained tonight .. I worked too hard yesterday morning in the garden and it packed a wallop to me .. we are in between rain days also .. thus the hands are shaky and the wet garden included don't give great pictures but none the less I feel that urge to share or bore you people so keep your "browser" finger at the ready to escape as soon as possible when the yawns strike !
I had to share this dragonfly (candle holder) I have plans to put a mini me pot on it and keep it with the boys for company.
Jen from her "Muddy Boot Dreams" garden had a dragonfly piece for art in the garden so I needed to share my Home Sense treasure too !
My basil plant is happy ... it is flowering : ) ... and I read some where that herbs are at their peek when flowering .. I better get busy and clip a few leaves !
I love dill .. I wish I could have it as a house plant because that scent sends me to heaven ? I do try and dry as much as I can .. or is that when I can REMEMBER to do that .. more likely ?
This is a very small white rose from a little ground cover rose bush .. it came out just right and I was surprised because white and red is a difficult colour to capture .. but not too bad eh ?
This blue beauty (which reminds me of that famous blue poppy that a certain blogger from N.S. has growing in her gardens .. Jodi .. and "puppy" this is for you guys ? LOL
I found it at a little garden place .. Larkspur (Delphinium) Summer Blues .. and it is amazing : )
Hey Jodi .. Quick Fire hydrangea is setting flower buds like crazy and this one is stuck in a very shaded position under the Bittersweet vine arbor .. I am stunned and feeling a bit guilty for sticking it in a very difficult place .. yet it shines through for me so far : )
I had to throw some astilbe in ... they are my girlie PINK colour ... how can you pass that up ?
And for emphasis .. a deep fuschia in a clematis right above it .. how cool is that ?
I loved the morning light hitting Karl here, against my playhouse .. it just seemed perfect ?
A soaked back garden early in the morning under gray skies ... it dulls all the plant colour but it is LUSH !!
This is one of my fennel plants that looks like it has been hit by an ice storm .. interesting ? YES !!
Keeping an eye on Tiger Eye Sumac.
Finally a rose bud for you all ... courtesy of Morden Sunrise : )

Sunrise.. to SCARY !! on Hodge Podge Friday

This morning's sunrise was a pretty one. Calm cool blue and shades of white/yellows.
It looked to be a very nice day even if too hot and humid for me.

Doesn't it just make you relax a little looking at nice calm shots of the clouds in the sky ?
That amazing reflection of light shining from the bottom of the clouds ?
Then .. the afternoon brought rather scary weather with such clouds in turmoil I truly wondered what would happen next .. click on the pictures to see the most amazing patterns .. ripples in the clouds as they churn in the sky !

I left the edges of my house and the neighbor's houses so you can see this really was my sky this afternoon !

I have never seen clouds suck the colour out of everything like these did .. I have to say churn again because the motion of them was exactly like that, as if the sky had severe heartburn and needed to burp badly ?.. I stayed out long enough to get these shots then sheets of hard rain came down .. not the least were the thunder claps .. the girls and I were a little edgy ... OK ... ME , I was EDGY !
On another note (not to dwell too long on that storm .. it rather unnerved me ?)
This part of my post is for Kathleen of Kaseys Korner .. we are both trying to grow zone 5 winter hardy passion flower vines "Maypop" is its name.
Mine is to the left .. the other vine is Gravetye Beauty clematis with some sempervivums for company ? I am also growing Moonflower and "Chocolate" morning glory .. Moonflower is also on Kathleen's list so we will compare pictures of how they grow too I hope !

Of course I have to have Dave .. WG (who was well impressed with today's weather !.. being the "weather gargoyle" he is) and Mista G all the way from California thanks to Cindee from Cindee's Garden .. the boys just had to say hello !!

PENSTEMON Elfin Pink : )

You are at the right post .. I just couldn't resist this sunrise picture of my Royal Purple smoke bush .. "Elfin Pink" penstemon is right below ..
I had a hard time trying to post something this evening .. I felt driven to post , guilt feelings of missing two Hodge Podge Fridays ? .. touch of a bug .. trying to do too much (aka painting the bathroom) I used to be able to do that and more but the list is getting shorter and shorter.
I'm taking some refuge in the garden even while it is screaming at me to DO something in it for heaven sakes .. forget taking pictures, do REAL work to tidy us plants up lady !!
But no .. today it was some pictures in the morning .. some watering of the deck plants (I will fall over them if I don't .. sort of a trap I set for myself) ... only 120 days till Halloween folks ; )

Lady's Mantle, Lambs Ears, Balloon Flowers, cone flowers ... a real mix of odds and ends like floppy shoe laces ... and now the roar of lawn mowers .. time to close up shop and fall on the bed !

P.S. I went to Home Sense (for those who know this store) .. and only bought scented oil/sticks .. I couldn't find anything that would go in the garden .. but .. I did buy some Fiskers tools at Home Depot .. so does that mean I DID buy for the garden ? .. OK .. some purple fountain grass that was on sale ... there goes that theory out the window !!

My sky .. the dark and light of it lately

I'm a sky watcher, as anyone who has looked at my blog knows .. I'm hooked on the sky and clouds.
I've missed those dramatic fiery sunrises of Spring and Autumn .. summer doesn't have them because the sunrise happens too far left of my view. But summer has amazing cloud action. The different high and low pressure systems with hot and humid to cooler weather literally drives the clouds across our sky.
Sometimes gloomy gray weather .. sometimes crystal clear with the most amazingly puffy white clouds that convince you they have to be made of cotton wool balls .. that if you ever got the chance to stand on them , you could !

This was Sunday's cloud action .. I missed some great ones but the criss cross patterns here were awesome !

I did say PUFFY .. didn't I ? ; )

Then just the brightest crystal clear ...........

Frogs .. goat .. flowers and sunrise reflections

A flying frog dancing with the grape vine ?
A stone "watch-frog" at the door of my garden playhouse .. next to a cozy copper light ?
The beard of a goat on green leafy stalks ............
My first berries from a tree mixing company with pea like flowers from an old friend, Baptisia.
Impossible white daisy like flowers .. showing off ?
Royal Wedding poppy ... where are my gorgeous red ones ?
Morden Sunrise softness in a rose ..................
Angel Face in a few different poses ? Outdoor and indoor faces ?

Sunrise this morning ... smudgy clouds
Soft morning sun reflected ....

Winthrop's head and wing tips caught up in the glow : )
