The R.A. Corkum Funeral Home Ltd. Was Established in January 1984 by Owners Robert and Karen Corkum. The addition of a 3 bay garage came in 1994. The summer of 2004 brought about many changes to the interior of our facility including fully air conditioning the building.


Robert A. Corkum

Robert was born in Bridgewater and grew up in Lahave. Following schooling, he worked in the grocery and building supply business until moving to Bridgewater in 1965 and Marrying Karen. He went on to work as a part-time employee of Wamback's Memorial Chapel, where Karen's father, the Late Emery Bolivar was also employed. After Illness forced the owner of Wamback's to retire, Robert went on to become a full-time employee. Nineteen years later, on the closing of the Wamback Memorial Chapel, Robert decided to start a funeral service of his own. He received his professional licenses and opened his own funeral home. Robert served as Fire Chief of the Bridgewater Fire Department and was a member of various provincial and local fire fighting associations and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater.

Robert passed away February 27, 2015.


Krista E. Corkum

Krista was born and raised in Bridgewater. After completing high school at Park View Education Centre, she went on to work for Fisheries Products International in Lunenburg. Two years later, she decided that she was ready to enter the Funeral profession. After completing work experience, she enrolled in the Funeral Service Education Program in Kentville, graduating in 1993. Returning to her hometown, Krista joined her Father, and after completing her apprenticeship, received her provincial Funeral Director's and Embalmers license. She is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater and resides in Bridgewater with her daughter Mackenzie.
