Trip title:
Three awesome weeks in the Maritimes
Trip period:
Jul 2007
Trip location:
Shediac, NB and Halifax, NS
We left Montreal on July 5th with only our tent and basic camping equipment. We decided to travel light this year. We drove straight to Moncton, NB where we slept in a hotel for the first night. The next morning, we headed for shediac hoping to get a campground at the provincial park.... and luckily, we did! The campground was really great so we decided to camp there for 2 weeks while visiting the region. The beach was awesome altough the water was a bit cold this year.... but no jellyfish. We visited "Le Pays de la Sagouine" and "Les Dunes de Bouctouche" in Bouctouche on two different days and had a blast both days. We also went to see "Hopewell Rocks" at Fundy National Park and folks, this was worth the 40 minutes trip!!!! Totally awesome (even if rained the whole day). In Moncton (a 15 minute drive) we did a fair bit of shopping and we went to "Magnetic Hill" (a must see). We also brought the kids to "Magic Mountain" (water slides) and "Crystal Palace" (an indoor amusement park). At night, we often went to the pier (marina) to watch the sunset. When we left Shediac, we headed to Halifax to spend a week with relatives. We went to Peggy's Cove for one day (nobody wanted to leave) and we also went camping for two days at the KOA campground in Baddeck (while there, you must go see the Alexander Graham Bell museum). The rest of the time, we spent in downtown Halifax either shopping or eating with our relatives at the pier. By the way, we're seafood lovers and we ate like kings for a decent price. We're already planning to go back next year and this time we'll go up further in Cape Breton.
