About CMGA

Reasons to join the CMGA:

1. The CMGA is the only Breed Association recognized by the Animal Pedigree Act (Canada) as representing the Murray Grey breed in Canada.

2. The CMGA has reciprocal agreements with Murray Grey Associations in America, Australia, United Kingdom and New Zealand with respect to registration. This ensures that an animal is registered in the country of origin and its pedigree is recognized by all member countries of the International Murray Grey Society.

3. Performance Data. The membership is committed to "keep up with the future" by adopting Whole Herd Reporting and Genetic Evaluation (EPD) through Breedplan, effective January 1, 2001. By embracing these changes, the CMGA is partnering with Murray Grey herds in the US, the UK, New Zealand and Australia to be the first beef breed to have International Performance Evaluation. Whole Herd Enrollment ensures that all progeny are recorded, not just the best! International Performance ensures that there are sufficient numbers to attain meaningful accuracy: the greater the number the progeny, the greater the accuracy.

5. A "World Class" registry system. The CMGA registry is processed at the CMGA Office,using the "number one" registry software produced by ABRI. The DNA profile on all sires (a requirement for registration) are on file at the registry, ensuring rapid registration of the progeny.

6. Shows and Promotional activities. The CMGA supports various livestock shows and sponsors individual classes which enhances our breed profile in the beef industry.

7. Stability: The CMGA is a financially sound association which has been serving its members since the early 70's and will continue with the help of all "volunteer" staff.

8. Fantastic Cattle: A good breed association's foundation is built on quality cattle. Our foundation is "Rock Solid!"
