Nick Gannon has served in numerous leadership positions since arriving at Drexel in 1998. He was promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics in May of 2011 after serving as the senior associate athletic director for four years. Gannon added the role of Chief Operating Officer to his title in Febrary of 2022. He was previously associate and assistant athletic director at the school. Gannon oversees all of Drexel Athletics’ business and administrative operations, the day-to-day operations of the department and administers several of Drexel’s athletic teams.

Gannon served as the CAA representative on the NCAA Division I Championships and Sports Management Cabinet from 2012 through 2015. Gannon was the chair of the CAA Competition and Championships Committee until 2016. He previously served a three-year appointment on the NCAA Recruiting and Personnel Issues Cabinet and served on the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Rules Committee (from 2003-2005). He was awarded the 2014 IMLCA Extra Man Award, which is presented annually to a university or college administrator who displays the highest level of support for the growth of lacrosse.
 
Gannon played an integral role in Drexel Athletics securing bids for the NCAA Lacrosse Championships. He worked in conjunction with the Philadelphia Eagles to bring the 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2019 championships to Philadelphia as well as the upcoming 2023 and 2024 championships. Gannon also worked with the Philadelphia Union and PPL park to secure and bring the 2012 NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals to Chester, Pa.

Gannon, a native of Springfield, Pa., earned the 2014 Drexel University President's Award for Excellence for his work at the school. He started at Drexel in 1998 as the director of business operations. He was responsible for all of the department’s financial records and budgetary procedures. Before his arrival in University City, Gannon served as the coordinator of football administration with the Philadelphia Eagles for three years. He handled the club’s compliance with NFL player personnel rules and procedures, oversaw the player signing process in relation to the salary cap and prepared the team’s scouting department budget among other duties.

While working at the Eagles, Gannon earned a master’s degree in athletic administration from West Chester University in 1998. He attended the University of Virginia as an undergraduate and was a letterwinner as a goalie on the men’s lacrosse team. He graduated with a degree in economics in 1992. Gannon was a recipient of the Tommy Compton Alumni Award in 2012. Gannon and another Virginia graduate were instrumental in organizing “Wakely Flyers,” a group of UVa lacrosse alums who, since 2008, have put together and led a bike team that has raised money in the name of teammate Chris Wakely, to benefit the fight against Multiple Sclerosis

Gannon and his wife, Maureen, reside in Havertown, Pa. with their two daughters, Carly and Amy and their son, Kevin.
