How long does it take to complete a food handler course?

It takes approximately 8 hours to complete a basic food safety or food handling course.

When will I receive my certificate?

Candidates that successfully complete the course will receive a certificate immediately after the course. Candidates will be inputted into a provincial registry wherever applicable.

How long is my certificate valid for?

Most food safety and food handling certificate’s do not expire. However, re-certification can be requested based on request from the health inspector or authority. Re-certification is recommended in some provinces.

Can I take a food handler or food safety re-certification course?

No, candidates must re-take the entire course to renew certification.

My English is not very good. Can I take the course in another language?

Yes, our training partners throughout Canada offer food safety and food handler courses in several different languages. Candidates can also take the test and receive a manual in different languages as well.

How much does a food handler certification course cost?

Courses range in price depending on the level of training and the province. Prices vary from 55 to 125 dollars. Course fee’s include taxes, certification fee’s and manual. Our training providers do not have any hidden fee’s.

Do you offer private food handler and food safety certification courses?

Yes, our training providers offer private food safety and food handling certification courses for you or your business. Select the certification course that you need from the main or side menu and then select your location. You will be directed to one of our training partners that can help you book a private course.

What should I wear to the course?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes to the course. You will be moving around so it will help if you are comfortable.

Should I bring food?

Our training providers do not offer food. You can bring your own lunch or you can purchase a meal or snack from a nearby establishment.
