Captain Warren has been selected to be apart of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans stock assessment program. He takes a selection of DNA samples from Coho and Chinook Salmon. This helps provided scientific data for the migration patterns and growth rates for these two iconic salmon species. This data will help enable fishing opportunities for the future.

Everyone from beginning, to seasoned anglers will benefit from host and guide Warren Barker’s more than 15 years of guiding experience.  Your day’s catch will include seasonal fishing opportunities for Dungeness Crab and succulent B.C. Spot Prawns in addition to our world famous year round Pacific Salmon fishery. Our charters are perfect for tourist, family and corporate trips looking for a quality local fishing experience. FISHING OUTLOOK 2024

  • Feeding

Chinook salmon migrate into Howe Sound to feed on herring that spawn in the sound from December to March. This fishery remains consistent through to the end of March. It is open for a retention of 2 chinook per person.

  • Returning

The chinook salmon fishing is very consistent through these months. It is a catch-and-release fishery to protect the early returning Fraser River Chinook population.

  • Migrating

These are the months when the majority of salmon are migrating back to their native rivers to spawn. The ocean environment is their last opportunity to feed prior to heading into their freshwater migration. Coho and pink salmon are the first to arrive in local waters, followed by chinook and sockeye. The last to arrive are chum in mid-September.
