Aviation Medical – What to expect

Aviation medical examinations in CanadaAviation medical examinations may only be carried out by a C.A.M.E. (Canadian Aviation Medical Examiner).

At each medical, a new Civil Aviation Medical Examination Report needs to be completed.  You will be required to add your demographics and flight hours.   Questions must be answered regarding family history, medical history, including substance abuse, over the counter drugs, prescription drugs, and alcohol intake.  Our staff will check your height, weight, blood pressure, distance and colour vision, hearing, and urine.

If you require an ECG, we are able to perform it in our office.

If you wear contact lenses, please wear glasses to the appointment, or be prepared to remove your contact lenses.  If you have a current prescription for corrective lenses, please bring it to the office.

If you have any medical conditions, please bring all doctor, hospital, and diagnostic testing reports with you.

If this is your first aviation medical, a certificate will be mailed to you from Transport Canada.  If you are renewing your medical, Dr. Magee will stamp your medical for an automatic renewal.
