Dr. Salkeld was born in England and spent her early childhood in Tanzania, East Africa. After graduating from high school in Port Perry, Ontario, Dr. Salkeld attended the University of Guelph and the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC). During her time at the OVC, she pursued her interest in Zoo and Wildlife medicine by working at the Toronto Zoo and coordinating a project involving a shipment of donated goods from the Toronto Zoo to the Lima Zoo in Peru. She also worked at the Ottawa-Carleton Wildlife Centre, rehabilitating wildlife and instituting vaccination programs for raccoons. Upon graduating from the OVC, Dr. Salkeld began working at the Hawkesbury Animal Hospital in 1995 and the Glengarry Animal Hospital in 1997, and in 2011, joined the practice partnership. Dr. Salkeld’s special interests include internal medicine, dermatology and radiology.

Dr. Salkeld shares her home with 3 cats and 3 dogs. In her free time, she enjoys fitness, skiing, travelling and music, as well as spending time with her daughter and husband on their organic hobby farm raising chickens, ducks and turkeys.
