My name is Sheelagh Frame, and I am the sole proprietor of In Your Own Words.
I came to an editing career after more than 20 years as an archaeologist—a long, strange trip that included a PhD from UC, Berkeley and fieldwork on three continents. Although there are not many similarities between the two fields, they share a need to keep shifting focus from the tiniest details to the big picture. As an editor I can zero in on comma splices and dangling modifiers, but I can also help you clarify your message, target your audience or tighten your plot.
My strengths include the ability to convey complex ideas with clarity and depth. I am also able to write concise and readable summaries of academic research and technical reports. My clients include individuals, institutions and corporations from all over the world and I have extensive experience working with authors whose first language is not English.
