ISO 19011:2011 RELEASED:
The ISO 19011:201 Standard (Guidance for auditing
Management Systems) was released late in 2011. The focus of this
guidance document is on internal auditing and second party auditing as it
states that there are ISO guidance documents and protocols that define the
requirements for accreditation authorities including auditing
activities. ISO 19011:2011 incorporates an expanded scope on auditing
management systems, includes several new auditing principles and uses the term
personal behaviours for audit team members attributes. JJ Management
Services Auditing courses include the new and revised content of ISO
19011:2011.
ISO 9001:2008 RELEASED:
The ISO 9001:2008 Standard was released on November 15,
2008. As stated numerous times, there is no new requirements associated
with this revision but several requirements are re-worded for clarity and ease
of understanding.
An agreement between ISO and the IAF provides a
twenty-four (24) month transition period for registered organisations.
New registrations or re-registrations after twelve months (after November 14,
2009) will be to ISO 9001:2008. Registration to ISO 9001:2000 will not
be valid after the twenty-four month time frame (that is November 14, 2010).
Therefore organisations have a total of 2 years to be aware of the revisions
and make appropriate changes to their Quality Management Systems (QMS).
JJMS has identified the changes and their impact on organizations.
The clock starts ticking for organizations to upgrade to the new version as
twenty-four
months will pass very quickly. This may also be a great time to take
fresh look at your QMS and make changes to refresh and to provide better value
to the organisation. Contact James for a better understanding of the
changes and for and assistance improving your QMS.
ISO 9001:2008 Revision
TC 176 has released the Final Draft of the amendment to ISO 9001:2000 known
as FDIS with expected release in late 2008. Although technically the
fourth revision, the changes are subtle and are not expected to require
significant revisions to organization's Quality Management System documentation.
ISO and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) indicates that
certification to the fourth revision of ISO 9001 can not occur until the
official publication of ISO 9001:2008 and after a routine surveillance or
re-certification audit has taken place against ISO 9001:2008.
"One year after publication of ISO 9001:2008, all accredited certifications
issued shall be to ISO 9001:2008. and that will be completed
as part of the on-going surveillance and re-registration process." (ref ISO
press release # 1152, August 20, 2008)
"Twenty-four months after publication by ISO of ISO 9001:2008, any existing
certifications issued to ISO 9001:2000 shall not be valid." (ref ISO press
release # 1152, August 20, 2008)
JJMS has reviewed the requirements and has created a list of the proposed
changes to the ISO 9001:2000 standard based upon the DIS document. This
document is available upon request. Please send an email to James
requesting a copy of the proposed changes.
