25 Encouraging Bible Verses to Give You Peace

Desktop-Bible-Verse-Wallpaper-Jeremiah-29-11Many of my friends and family have experienced a variety of upheavals over the past little while…a death in the family, job insecurity, health issues.  The youth I know are also not immune to stress and upset.  Many struggle with depression, heartache, relationships and school-related challenges such as assignment deadlines and exams.  For any of you who are feeling the “weight of the world” on your shoulders…cast your care upon the One Whose shoulders are big enough to carry the burden for you!

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16.33

“So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.”  Romans 8:6

“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”  Colossians 3:15

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”  Psalms 46:1

“It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn.” Psalm 18:32-36

“Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.”  Psalm 119:165

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”  Deuteronomy 31:6

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we all live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” Galatians 5:22-26

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  John 14.27

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.”  2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

“The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’  Numbers 6:26

“Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalm 16:5-8

“The Lord gives his people strength.  The Lord blesses them with peace.” Psalm 29:11

“The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”  2 Timothy 1:7

“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.”  Romans 5:1

“May the God of hope fill you all with joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”  John 14:1-3

Cast your burden on the Lord, and he shall sustain you: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”  Psalms 55:22

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11

“May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”  2 Thessalonians 3:16

    Good afternoon.

I believe in God and I believe in Love because God is love .

I am facing a challenge in my life and its only God that can restore my marriage of 14 years .I reach out for prayers and please stand in faith with me that God can turn my circumstances around …the divorce…with tears in my eyes and such pain and discomfort in my heart I lay it today at the masters feet .Its not an easy road ,but I ask for Gods intervention and peace in both me and my daughters life and that God will open my wife’s eyes and safe her precious soul.
This I ask in the name of Jesus.

A blessed day to all .

Mary, I am praying for your situation. I do not know if you have a church family, but if you do, share your burdens with them…when one member of the church family is hurting, we all hurt. If you do not have a church family, tomorrow – Sunday – attend a Bible-believing church near you. Connect with those who love the Lord. They are the “hands and feet” of Jesus and I hope they will minister to you during this time. Lord, I pray for Mary today, the day after Christmas. You know her struggles, guide her to a church that will love her. Give her wisdom and peace at this time. May she feel that “peace that surpasses understanding” even in the midst of such a difficult time. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

If you click on the link https://lynndove.com/the-gospel-message-get-it-got-it-good/. That explains what it takes to become a follower of Jesus. That’s the first step to having peace with God. Then find a church where you can learn more about the Bible, prayer, worship, and you will be surrounded by people who are on the same journey as you are and they will support and encourage you. Ask questions! Pray for direction! If your Grandma is still around, spend some time with her. I know it would bless her mightily to have her granddaughter come to know Jesus in a personal way!

I just lost someone who I considered my best friend. She said some extremely hurtful things to me and accused my husband of the most outrageous lies. This is someone who claimed to “cherish our friendship” for 11 years. She even said it a few days ago, but every word she attacked me with could not be further from the truth. I am trying to find some scripture to help ease this hurt of betrayal. My mom led me to read Psalm 41 and verses 9-12 REALLY stuck out to me.

    Even my close friend,
    someone I trusted,
    one who shared my bread,
    has turned[b] against me.
    10 But may you have mercy on me, Lord;
raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 I know that you are pleased with me,
for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 Because of my integrity you uphold me
and set me in your presence forever.

Are there any others that you know of that can help me fully realize that a “friend” who attacks another with such atrocious lies is NO friend at all? Thanks so much!

    • Lynn says:

I am saddened to hear of your broken relationship with your friend. Although there may be scripture that confirms a friend’s betrayal there are far more verses that beseech us to forgive one another. It may be difficult to find that strength to forgive right now, but seek God’s help in this.

Hi Lynn, thank you so much for these scriptures. I wrote in a couple of days ago, talking about my distresses and not having a place to go stay because I just left and quit my job because I was dictated.

I can tell you today that my fears and my worries are cast aside. My favorite scripture is Isaiah 41:10 and I think my Father in Heaven has assured me that He’ll help find a new job and He’ll also shelter me.

Jesus says in Matthew 17:20 If I have faith as small a mustard seed, I’ll be able to move mountains and nothing will be impossible for me.

Sometimes in life the best answers are right in front of us, as long as we have faith and believe that God will usher us to the promised land and future glory. All we need to do is BELIEVE.

    Thanks Lynn.

So please include us with your prayer that the church can buy a car to haul the church members for them to go to church every Sunday and other church activities. when we will see with our naked eyes it is impossible that we can buy because of our financial instability and we are just rented a home church, but I believe there is no impossible with God! Hey There Lynndove,
Maybe a little off topic, however, My best friend has been suffering from Post Concussion Syndrome for over a month now. She is still in immense pain and is currently slipping in and out of depression. Right now, she needs some encouraging Bible verses on healing and maybe even some on fear (because right now she fears that she won’t get better.) PLEASE HELP! I have seeing my best friend like this 😥 Thanks in advance.
I’ll be back to read more next time

      Alice,
I plan on writing a post in the future on both healing and fear. But for now I pray these scriptures will help your friend, and may you be blessed as you minister to her through God’s word.

Matthew 7:7-11 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”

John 15:7 “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

James 5:14-15 “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Nyaladzo, my heart grieves with you in the loss of your father. I lost my father in 1999 and not a day goes by that I do not think of him. Let me pray for you: Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you will give Nyaladzo comfort at this time and give that peace that surpasses understanding today and in the days and weeks ahead. I lift this child of God before You, Lord and ask for You to be close. I ask that You will be Abba Father to this one who grieves. In Jesus Name, Amen.

        Korinthia-
I am so sorry to hear of your loss and the pain that you are going through. I pray that you feel the Lord’s love and that you may be comforted by his everlasting strength and mercy. He is with the broken hearted and he will be there for you always! I encourage you to read through Psalms when you get a moment here or there. It is full of crying out of such deep sorrow, and also the renewal of hope.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
        -Matthew 11:28-30

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
        -Isaiah 40:29-31

Not only do, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into or hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
        -Romans 5:3-5

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
        -Isaiah 46:4

        Isaiah 49:13-16
        Ephesians 3:14-21
        Philippians 4:4-7
        1 Peter 1:3-6
        Jeremiah 31:3, 25
