Q: How long will it take to secure a receiving bed and physician in the patient's catchment area?

A: This is dependent upon the nature of the illness and type of bed that is required, and the available services each hospital provides. Our success rate has been 75% of beds are found in less than 24hrs.

Q: What information is required for your team to start a bed find?

A: The critical information required to begin a bed find includes: patient's full name, D.O.B., patient status (condition), current location of the patient. Additional information should include: patient home address, OHIP #(if applicable) , family doctor's name and contact information.

Q: If a bed find has already been initiated by the client (insurance company) but are having difficulty located an accepting doctor and bed, will your case management team take it on?

A: Our case management team will take on any bed find that is required to bring home a patient. Ideally if we are involved from the beginning, the bed finding process is much more efficient. This eliminates the confusion with the sending and receiving hospitals and minimizes any communication breakdown.

Q: If your case managers are unable to locate a receiving bed and physician in their home area will you expand the search outside the catchment area?

A: The goal of Lifemedical is to locate a receiving bed in the patient's catchment area. The patient's best interest are first and foremost the top priority, if circumstances prevent our case managers from securing a bed in the immediate area, we will broaden the search to other areas with acceptable facilities.

Q: What is the cost involved with Lifemedical services?

A: You will find all our fees extremely competitive and reasonable. Please notify our Case Manager at Lifemedical for further analysis on the services you are requesting and the cost involved.

Q: Will Lifemedical locate a bed for an emergency evacuation when the patient is in a country that has less than optimal health care and is requiring immediate medical care?

A: There are no bed finds that Lifemedical will not assist with. We use our vast array of resources in getting the patient to a hospital that is equipped and capable to deal with the medical condition involved.
