Programs
Work Experience Training (CRF)
- 4 ? 26 weeks
- Training outline required
- Apprenticeship & non apprenticeship training
- Non profit employers or at a reduced rate for profit employers
Skill Enhancement (CRF)
- Available for employed staff in danger of losing their employment
- Salary dollars for staff on training are not eligible
- Tuition and registration costs covered
Project Based Training (CRF & EI)
- All direct training costs may be eligible to be reimbursed
- Allowances or stipends may be paid to trainees
- Cost sharing is encouraged
Single Seat Purchase (CRF & EI)
- Trainees should be at least 19 years of age and out of school for one (1) year
- Tuition and books can be covered
- Allowances, travel & daycare can be covered
- Incremental training can be covered up to 36 months with a career plan
Job Creation Program (EI)
- Can train one or more clients
- Can run from 4 to 26 weeks
- Maximum weekly payment $435.00 not insurable earnings
- $100.00 per week available for other costs
- $25.00 per week available for training costs
Self Employment Program (EI)
- Wage replacement up to $435.00 per week
- Clients funded up to 52 weeks
- Viable business plan required
- Costs under this program are shared whenever possible
Programs are divided into the following two training funds:
Employment Insurance Funds (EI)
To train Mi’kmaq people who are either in receipt of EI or have been on EI within the past 36 months or 60 months for a maternity claim.
Consolidated Revenue Funds (CRF)
To assist Mi’kmaq people who do not qualify for funding under the Employment Insurance Program.
