New Energy Resources Alliance (NewERA) invites you to take a few minutes to complete a web questionnaire about decentralized energy.

NewERA is a national, not-for-profit industry association representing its member companies in the decentralized energy industry in Canada. Decentralized energy (DE) is the production, management and storage of heat and/or power, irrespective of generator size, fuel or technology, located close to the user of that energy. With respect to electricity, DE complements traditional, centralized, large-scale power generation, which is located at some distance from end-users and connected to customers via bulk transmission system or grid.

DE installations include solar panels, small-scale wind and hydroelectric, combined heat-and-power plants, biogas production, geothermal and more. On a recent visit to Alberta, our federal Environment Minister indicated that “we will have all the new, best energy technologies … wind energy, solar energy, biodiesel, co-generation … we will export these technologies … we will be strong in this booming market.” Yet in Alberta and much of the rest of Canada, the deployment of DE lags other jurisdictions including Japan and the European Union.

NewERA has retained Overview Business Consulting Inc. to conduct research leading to the creation of a strategy to improve Alberta’s utilization of DE. To that end, we would like you to complete the following questionnaire. Detailed knowledge of DE is not required! The questions below should take about 15 minutes to complete. Deadline is June 13, 2005.

If you complete this survey you are eligible to enter your name in a draw for two complimentary registrations (value $300 each) to NewERA’s 2005 Annual Workshop . To enter, please provide your name and contact information at the end of the questionnaire. Thank you for your time !
