 You must have a pass to enter the library before school, during lunch, and during class time.  After school no pass is needed, but you must have your own way home by 3:30 (no bus riders after school).

Choice activities:

1. Reflect on these questions, then either record a video (1 minute) or write a paragraph of two with your thoughts.

  • “What did Martin’s big words have to do with what was happening in his life? What does the author of Martin's Big Words mean at the end when she says that Martin’s big words are ‘alive’ today?” Can you cite an example from one of the other articles to demonstrate this? 

2. Choose a word that you think represents MLK Jr. Create a collage of either magazine clippings or a digital collage representing that word. 

3. This is a poster used by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference with an MLK Jr. Quote. Find 3 more MLK Jr. quotes in the above resources, create posters for the quotes--digital or drawn, then explain under each why you chose the quote.

The Omaha Public Schools’ Libraries empower students to become future ready citizens who appreciate reading and engaging with information in all formats. Checkout Information:  

  • Students may check out materials for 3 weeks at a time; materials can be renewed for 2 more weeks if there is not a waiting list.  Please return books on their due dates so that other students may read them. PlayAways can be checked out for a week and renewed for another week.
  • You will stamp your agenda with a "Library Books Due Today" reminder.
  • Students may put a book on hold if it is checked out by another person.  This can be done at the circulation desk or on your own by logging into the catalog.  
  • Please be respectful of one another as well as all the materials in the library.
  • Your log in for the LS@ catalog is your student number and your password is your birthdate in 6 digits (February 12, 2003 = 021203)
