Fun Vowel Songs and Poems?

Anyone have any fun vowel songs, games, chants, for memory recall. These are the hardest for retention of letter-sound association.

Songs

There is also a song that I have my kids do that incorporates exercise and phonics. Its who let the letter out..and it teaches/reinforces sounds of letters while the kids have fun trying to make the letters with their bodies.

I found a great short vowel poem in one of the Mailbox magazines. I get them up and moving and my first graders LOVE it!! Here it is:
"Short Vowel Beat"
First clap your hands and then stomp your feet
Everybody do the short vowel beat!
Candy, candy, a/a/a (repeat) - (you are saying the short a sound)
Wave your arms high, swing your arms low,
The short vowel beat is the way to go
Red hots, red hots, e/e/e (repeat)
Move to the left, Move to the right
The short vowel beat is way out of sight
Licorice, licorice, i/i/i (repeat)
Hop two steps up, hop two steps back
The short vowel beat keeps you right on track!
Chocolate, chocolate, o/o/o (repeat)
Shout it out loud, whisper it low,
Just one more vowel in the beat to go
Yummy, yummy, u/u/u (repeat)
Now give a high five to a nearby friend,
The short vowel beat has come to an end!

Hi...

I actually just looked for some of these myself, but for the holidays too. This website had a ton http://www.canteach.ca/ . We also use one that goes to the song of B-I-N-G-O.

There was a class at ______________ School
Who knew their vowel letters,
a, e, i, o, u.... a, e, i, o, u... a, e, i, o, u...
Those are the vowel letters

**Then like with B-I-N-G-O, you clap for each letter as you go through the song.

Vowel Songs

I was taught in kindergarden a certain vowel song that went along the lines of this:

I was walking through the woods one day
When i met Mr. Vowel A
One of them was short and said ah ah ah
The other one was long and said a a a
Apple..........Acorn
Those start with A.

I was walking through the woods one day
When i met Mr. Vowel E
One of them was short and said eh eh h
The other one was long and said e e e
Egg..........Easter
Those start with E.


The rest of the song goes on untill it gets through all the vowels.
the rhyme is pretty much the same throught out the rest of the poem.
If any one has ever heard of this song please tell where I could find it online? Thanx so much!!!!

What's That Sound? vowel song

I like to sing a song with my kids called "What's That Sound?" It's sung to the tune of Old MacDonald Had a Farm. It goes like this:

What's that sound in the middle of hot?
awe awe awe awe awe
What's that sound in the middle of doll?
awe awe awe awe awe
With an awe awe here and an awe awe there
Here an awe, there an awe
Everywhere an awe awe
What's that sound in the middle of doll?
awe awe awe awe awe

And so on with long o and the rest of the long and short vowel sounds. We like to add actions to the song as well. At the end of a verse I will sometimes go on to ask the kids about words that aren't in the song. For example, after singing the portion above as well as the long o part, I will sing to the kids, "What's that sound in the middle of dolphin?" and they answer "awe awe awe awe awe". Then I might sing to them, "What's that sound at the beginning of orange?" and they will answer with "o o o o o". Go back and forth between long and short vowels so the kids need to listen and respond with the appropriate sound. My kids love this!
