  • Introducing Michael Goodman: The Driving Force Behind Paradise Trails at Squamish

At the heart of Paradise Trails at Squamish is its owner, Michael Goodman. His principles, vision, and commitment to quality home building are intricately woven into the company's fabric. Michael ensures that every project he is involved in embodies quality, style, and value, with customer satisfaction as a top priority.

Michael's journey in the construction industry began in the mid-1960s, working alongside his father, Henry. A master craftsman, Henry built houses, commercial retail spaces, and apartment buildings, always emphasizing precision and fine woodwork. Growing up in a household with a workshop and cabinet-making tools, Michael was exposed to the art of custom carpentry from a young age, learning from his father's expertise.

Like his father, Michael developed a passion for wooden boats and post-and-beam wood homes. He honed his skills by taking woodshop and drafting courses throughout high school and working on construction projects while pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. After graduating, he continued building and renovating sailboats, floating houses, and homes, further fueling his passion. Michael's love for marine woodwork and floating homes led him to develop a floating home marina on waterfront property. The project included elevated wharves, servicing, and intricate floating docks with built-in heating and services. His expertise in building and moving floating homes grew, and he eventually constructed two floating homes for himself on concrete barges.

From the early 1980s to 2007, Michael renovated numerous houses and apartment buildings, as well as developed the Okanagan Breeze subdivision in Vernon, BC, in partnership with Len Schellenberg. The two shared a commitment to quality work, investing $3 million in offsite services and designing model homes for the 67-lot project.

Driven by his fine arts background and appreciation for aesthetics, Michael is committed to delivering a high-quality product. When he and his brother Dean, a renowned Toronto architect, get together, they spend their time discussing construction details and examining the craftsmanship of interesting buildings.

Michael's ultimate passion, alongside his team at Paradise Trails in Squamish, is to help you realize your dream of owning a beautiful, custom-built home in the heart of the Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada

Following in his father's footsteps, John has been passionate about energy-efficient housing, having built and renovated numerous houses with a focus on energy efficiency. • Introducing Mr. Lalani: Experienced Builder and Developer at Paradise Trails at Squamish

Mr. Lalani has been a vital part of the building and development industry since 2002, following the completion of his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from McGill University. He began his career as a draftsman and project manager for small to medium-sized developers, overseeing infill developments, new builds, and historic building renovations in Brooklyn and Berkeley. In 2007, he earned his Master of Engineering degree from McMaster University and joined Paradise Trails at Squamish in 2011.

Mr. Lalani's primary interest lies in the public and political consultation process, focusing on how stakeholders can contribute to and shape a project before construction begins. He and Mr. Goodman connected over their shared passion for creating low-cost housing solutions for those in need, as well as for working individuals who cannot afford to purchase a home.

In addition to his involvement in the development side of the company, Mr. Lalani is no stranger to hands-on construction and renovation projects. He has taken on substantial challenges, including the multi-million-dollar redevelopment of strip malls in Calgary and Edmonton. Both projects were complex due to various obstacles encountered when renovating, as opposed to building from the ground up. As Mr. Lalani puts it, "it is far easier to build from scratch than it is to renovate."

Mr. Lalani is a strategic builder who embraces diverse projects and believes in thinking outside the box. His expertise and dedication contribute significantly to the success of Paradise Trails at Squamish.
