Bettyanne Brownlee, Barrister and Solicitor

Bettyanne Brownlee has been practising law for over twenty years. She has practised both in Alberta and in British Columbia, and has provided advice internationally.

Early on, she gained a strong reputation for serving the practical commercial needs of corporate clients. That experience led to opportunities advising national and international businesses on all aspects of risk management, conflict resolution and regulatory compliance. Serving as in-house counsel to one Vancouver-based group of companies, she managed the legal affairs of its operations across Canada and throughout the United States.

Her recognized strengths in business planning allowed her to shift her practice in 2006 when she became in-house counsel with one of the largest health authorities in North America. She provided legal advice on contractual issues within the residential care portfolio and privacy compliance at the policy level.

In her practice she draws upon her many years of experience in business, both in the public and the private sectors. Her expertise has been recognized with appointments to several regulatory bodies.

Ms. Brownlee is also an active volunteer. For many years she has enjoyed providing volunteer legal services and board governance services to a range of charities and professional organizations.
