1. |
Press
the back of your quilt top well.
Please make sure that all seams are pressed flat on the back.
|
2. |
Cut
all dangling threads from the back of the quilt. (Remember dark
threads will show through light coloured fabrics and will take away
from the over-all look).
|
3. |
“Stay-stitch”
1/4” in from all edges on
the outer edge of the whole top.
This prevents seams from “popping” and prevents the top
from stretching when attached to the canvas rollers.
|
4. |
Indicate
with a piece of paper the “TOP” of the quilt (attach with a
safety pin).
|
5. |
Fold
top carefully and put
over a towel on a PLASTIC hanger.
If you are bringing fabric for binding, please pre-shrink &
press it as well.

Back: |
1. |
Use
only 100% cotton for your backing fabric.
Poly/Cotton & 100% polyesters will stretch at a different
rate to the quilt top and cause puckers.
Polyesters will also “pill” over time and encourage
“bearding”. NOTE: do not use sheets for backing fabric as
they are the leading contributor to poor tension and thread breakage.
|
2. |
Remove
ALL selvages, both from seams and on the edges.
|
3. |
Cut
your backing and batting at least 4” larger than your top on
all sides. Pay special
attention to squaring up your backing and batting (90 degree corners).
|
4. |
“Stay-stitch”
1/4” in from all outer
edges (DO NOT SERGE).
|
5. |
Press
well. All backing seams should be pressed open to reduce bulk.
|
6. |
Fold
carefully and place on hanger with the quilt top.

Remember:
the better job you do on preparation, the better job I can do for
you! |
