Security
In every activity that we do, security implications are always considered and
acted upon. Security considerations are of paramount importance in everything
from securing individual PCs to networks.
Encryption
Whether for a notebook or for networked workstations and servers, data
encryption is becoming more of a concern and requirement since the Ontario Personal Health
Information Protection Act was passed in 2004. By using data encryption on
systems where patient data is stored, a lot of headaches, time, and costs can be
avoided in the case of theft (both notebook and desktop). In most cases, data
encryption can be implemented on existing hardware, and is only moderately more
complex to administer.
Network Security
Wireless networks, PCs on hospital networks and PCs with internet access
must all be secured and protected from outside intruders using built in
operating system tools and often third party tools such as firewalls, etc.
- PC Security
-
- Individual PCs must be protected against external network intrusions,
viruses, and spy ware. At the same time, local security capabilities of the
operating system should be utilized to protect against unauthorized access.
-
- Security Updates
-
- Everything from the operating system, to ant virus and anti spy ware
programs, to firewalls and individual applications require the application of
security fixes, bug patches, upgrades and signature updates on a regular basis
to keep that PC secure.
Confidentiality
- We are very much aware of the sensitive nature of the data medical offices
deal with on a daily basis and take great care to secure that data and ensure
that it is not compromised in any way, shape or form. Our Service Contract
stipulates that data encountered during any repair or maintenance procedure
will be protected and not disclosed in any way, shape or form.
