James W. Hannah Family

From Dumfriesshire Scotland James W. Hannah was born 1816 or 1815. Sometime in 1830-40s he immigrated to Prince Edward Island, UK(Canada). Family folklore has it that he came from Scotland with two brothers via Rexton, N.B. I have no facts to suggest that is true.

James married Fanny/Frances Platts, a descendant of William Platts, and had their first four children near August Cove and Crapaud, PEI. Fanny and her sister Hannah lived near Saint John, NB the rest of their lives.

When the war ended, the brothers of the British Army went to lands donated to them in Nova Scotia, now present day New Brunswick, Canada. Brittain Chronology dated 30 Jan 1901, Bloomsberg, PA.

It is said that William Brittain was a supporter of the King while his wife Mary supported the colonies.
