About Us
Sensible repairs was established after a long and varied career in the building and construction industry. Having been first a concrete placer and finisher in the 80s and early 90s, I took on a job as the foreman at a roofing and waterproofing company based in Port Coquiltam. Combined with the fact that I chose to live in the temperate rain forest of the Canadian West Coast, it made leak chasing and repairs of water ingress in the lower mainland's many leaky condos a company mainstay. I remained with that company for 10 years before I decided to start my own repair business.
When the Barrett Commission Report On Leaky Condos was released in June of 1998 https://ubcm.civicweb.net/Documents/DocumentList.aspx?ID=209 The recommendations it put forward was a great improvement in the way buildings were to be built here in our unique climate. The days of shady construction practices and non accountability were soon to be a thing of the past.
One of the major changes put forward because of the Barrett Report was the mandatory use of rainscreen wall construction among other important recommendations on all new condos, townhomes and other stuctures that soon most municipalities adopted into their bylaws.
Because of these new construction bylaws that were being implemented in 1998, I chose to go back to school (BCIT) to ensure that I knew the proper techniques and components assembly of the new recommended construction practices. In the summer of 1999 I became a graduate Building Envelope Performance Technologist (BCIT SN A00189268)
Over the last two decades, I have had the opportunity to work with and for most of the property and stata management companies in the Lower Mainland. Our services have resulted in many well established relationships with engineering firms, construction companies and builders who can count on us to get the job done properly.
