The Stretch Ceiling System began in Europe in the 1970s and gained in popularity in the 1990s. It was used primarily by the construction industry and interior designers. It has not been advertised in the retail market.
What is a Stretch Ceiling?
It is a suspended ceiling system in two parts. It has a (1) lightweight membrane that stretches over and attaches to a (2) track.
Where can stretch ceilings be used?
Anywhere indoors.
What about maintenance?
It takes very little work. If necessary, it can be cleaned with standard household cleaners or just plain soap and water. Use of strong chemicals or solvents may void the warranty.
What about colors?
There are over 200 colors to choose from, as well as 6 finishes—matte, satin, lacquer, translucent, perforated and suede.
Is Stretch Ceiling used only in Europe?
Actually, it is used all around the world, on 5 continents, 120 countries, including the United States and in Canada.
What is the resistance of Batica-Renov Stretch Ceilings?
The membrane can hold the volume of about 26 gallons of water per 10 square feet. This type of ceiling is used to avoid major damage.
How can you clean a stretch ceiling?
Under normal conditions, the ceiling should not require cleaning. If it becomes necessary, however, use a regular household cleaning product, or soap and water. For glossy finishes like lacquer, do not use any abrasive product. Contact us or the manufacturer with any questions or concerns.
Is Batica-Renov recyclable?
This type of ceiling is 100% recyclable and so, is very eco-friendly.
What is its lifespan?
Current experience shows that these ceilings retain their technical properties for many years and many are still in place 20 years after installation.
How long does it take to install a ceiling over 200 square feet?
As you might expect, it depends upon the complexity of the area, but in general we can complete a standard 200 square feet in four hours.
How far from the original ceiling is a stretch ceiling installed?
It is mounted 1 inch from the original ceiling. We use lasers levels to ensure a perfect fit.
Is there air flow between the old and new ceilings?
Of course. Since the new ceiling is not air tight, there is sufficient air flow between the two.
Are Batica-Renov ceilings appropriate for a room with heavy traffic?
These ceilings are rated Class I in the USA, within the requirements of the ASTM E84 Flame Spread Test. it successfully meets UL criteria since it is made of non-flammable PVC membrane.
Can we incorporate lights or spotlights into the Batica-Renov?
Yes. Any type of light can be integrated, including pre-existing fixtures. We can also handle loudspeakers and vents.
What if something from the old ceiling falls onto this new ceiling?
Because the stretch ceiling can be easily removed and reassembled, there should be no problem with access to the old ceiling. Something small like paint chips would not be noticeable or heavy enough to make a difference.
Will the installation create a lot of dust in the room?
No. The installation process is very neat and usually only takes about a day.
Does the existing popcorn ceiling need to be removed before installing a stretch ceiling?
No. The stretch ceiling does not require it. Our process does not need any scrubbing or leveling of the current surface.
Can the stretch ceiling be damaged? If so, how can it be fixed?
The film membrane is thin and sensitive to sharp objects, so it can be punctured. That can be repaired, depending on the nature of the damage.

What materials are used to manufacture these ceilings?
We use PVC film membrane of various textures. They are specially manufactured in Germany and France.
What is the difference between satin, lacquer, and matte finishes?
Matte looks like ordinary paint but a little rough. Satin is smooth and flat and slightly glossy. Lacquer is light reflective and is used to give the room the feeling of spaciousness, like having a mirror on the ceiling.
Can stretch ceilings be made in complex shapes?
Absolutely. Any shape or configuration is possible, so you can use your imagination.
Do we need to move furniture for the installation?
Fewer items in the room will expedite the installation. We strongly recommend the removal of fragile and valuable items as well as any plants prior to installation.
What about payment options?
We accept cash, money order, credit or debit cards, or bank check. We do not accept personal checks. We require a 50% advance payment since the stretch ceiling membrane is custom cut specifically for your room. The balance is due in full on the day of installation completion.

Virtually anywhere. Our technology is compatible with most interiors including residences, commercial locations, pool areas, children’s rooms, spas, hotels, recording studios, hospital and other medical facilities, night clubs, restaurants, etc. The list is endless.
