Silage Blends

These blends produce good yields with excellent silage nutrition quality. The addition of a forage pea to small grains usually increases crude protein content by 2-5%. The height of the crop is reduced, however the dense leaf matter produces excellent palatability, protein levels between 10-15%.

Silo Buster Blend

  • Blend: 50% ARC40 Pea / 25% Barley / 25% Triticale
  • Seeding Rate =  120 lb. per acre
  • Good tonnage per acre
  • Excellent Palatability
  • Crude Protein = 10 – 15% (approx.)

The triticale improves the palatability of the silage, while the barley keeps the protein levels slightly higher.

Pea Tritlage Blend

  • Blend: 50% ARC40 Pea / 50% Spring Triticale
  • Seeding Rate =  120 lb. per acre
  • Good tonnage per acre
  • Excellent Palatability
  • Crude Protein = 10 – 15% (approx.)
  • ADF % = 32-38% average
  • NDF% = 52-58% average

Cut when triticale in soft dow for best tonnage / protein compromise.

Pea Oatlage Blend

  • Blend: 50% ARC40 Pea / 50% Baler Oats
  • Seeding Rate =  120 lb. per acre
  • Good tonnage and great quality
  • Crude Protein = 10 – 15% (approx.)
  • ADF % = 30.1 average
  • NDF% = 46.3% average

Pea Barlage Blend

  • Blend: 50% ARC40 Pea / 50% Forage Barley
  • Seeding Rate =  120 lb. per acre
  • Good tonnage per acre
  • Crude Protein = 10 – 15% (approx.)
  • ADF % = 31.2% average
  • NDF% = 51.7% average
