How do I get my rider number and submit my waiver? 

You will sign the waiver and receive your rider number at package pickup before starting the ride. Registered riders have two options for registration package pick-up and check-in:

1. Pre-Registration Check-In
When: Friday, July 14, 4:30-7:00 pm
Where: The Juice Truck, 28 W 5th Ave, Vancouver, BC
NOTE: To avoid long line-ups and streamline your start on the day of the event we highly recommend coming out to Pre-Registration on Friday, July 14!

2. Ride Day Registration Check-In
When: Saturday, July 15, only between 6:30-7:30 am (prior to the ride start at 8:00 am). Be aware that if you arrive at 7:30am, you may miss the start of the ride.

Can I register on the day of the event? 

Online registration will close on the Friday evening before the event at 7pm. You can also come to the package pickup to register on Friday. Unfortunately, we cannot register the morning of the ride as we need to know numbers and we have limited volunteers.

How do I get from the top of Cypress back to Ron Andrew’s Community Centre?

You have two options:

  1. Ride back

  2. Have someone meet you at the top or bottom of Cypress

What happens if there is smoke due to wildfires the morning of the ride? 

The health and safety of our riders is our first priority, so if there is excessive smoke to the level that would be unsafe for our riders, we will cancel the ride 24 hours beforehand according to our Air Quality Policy and Protocol. Even if the air quality is below the threshold but you are uncomfortable riding, please contact us before the ride and we will refund your registration or donate it on your behalf to the BCCHF and you will receive a donation receipt.

Is there going to be a bike mechanic on site at the beginning of the ride?

In 2023, we will again be joined at the start by our friends at Velofix. They will have tools and can do some basic work, but with so many riders, there may not be time to fix anything on your bike. Please check and tune your bike before the ride.

What kind of ride support will there be for the riders during the ride?

There will be several aid stations along the way which you can access during the ride. We suggest however, that you be as self-reliant as possible. Please have a flat repair kit, hydration, emergency contact information, cell phone and any specific nutrition you prefer with you on the ride. You will be able to access hydration and some nutrition from the aid stations.

Can Friends and Family Come Cheer Us On?

Yes, absolutely! There are many spots along the route and especially at the finish line on top of Cyprus for your personal cheer squads to station themselves to show their support.

Is the fundraising component mandatory?

There is no compulsory fundraising – any contributions will help our cause at BC Children’s Hospital’s heart unit and Children’s Heart Network but it is not expected of our participants. However, we encourage people to try and set a reasonable goal and contact their friends for donations. You would be surprised how many friends are willing to donate if you send an email that says ‘Hey, I’m doing this crazy thing for a good cause, would you like to support it?’ We built a system that makes it fun and easy to see how close you are to your goal, as well as allowing your sponsors to leave you messages of encouragement, so give it a try!

Where does the money go?

We understand that people have concerns that some rides and races don’t contribute a large part of their proceeds to charity. As such, we established very early that this organization would be about giving the absolute maximum to Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Children’s Heart Network. We are a registered non-profit organization and 100% of the donations will go directly to the charities and tax receipts will be provided for any donation above $20. All our staff volunteer all their time, and we try to keep costs down to a minimum. We use your registration fee for things such as permits, posters, signage and food for the ride. We hold a small amount in our account for next year’s expenses, but anything left over will also be donated. Also, read about our Mission and Values.
