Background

Jeff Gareau has over 15 years of experience in Investment Advisory/Management as a Financial Advisor/Dealing Representative, with clients in B.C., Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec. Jeff is or has been very active with many corporations, registered charities, and non-profit organizations in executive/officer positions. (click for list) He graduated from the University of Toronto having studied Economics, Industrial Relations (Organizational Mgt.), and Sociology. He is a media consultant on Islamic Investment and finance and has been a guest presenter in lectures at universities including the Rotman MBA Program at the U. of T., Ryerson Business School, and Trent University.

He is also an active contributor in the community helping with many charities as well as being a member of corporate and non-profit Boards of Directors (see QUALIFICATIONS).

This is his story ...

Jeff and his wife Sabiha have been married for 16 years, with three young sons. They have lived in north Oakville for over 10 years. Being a former member and Chair of Oakville’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee gives Jeff a unique insight into Oakville’s beautiful parks, the maintenance of trees, our recreational centres, and all the amenities that go with living in one of Canada’s finest communities.

He has been an Oakville Soccer Club coach and is currently doing the same with the Muslim Youth Soccer League (from 2005 to present) with additional duties as Convener, Vice-President, and League Head Coach.

Jeff has great insight into the facilities and the organizations here in Oakville and Halton Region.  We need to maintain a high level of service and go beyond.

As a former director of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, Jeff has seen first-hand the change in council’s attitude toward business. Jeff wants a business friendly policy change that will attract newcomers to Oakville.

Jeff is also committed to restoring a sense of pride in investing here, including creating new initiatives to replace so many events lost, such as the Oakville Waterfront Festival and Shakespeare in the Park, which his family used to enjoy.
