Hellooo! Hope you’re enjoying the start of fall if you share a hemisphere with us! We get extra-excited about stuff this time of year.
We added a feed of photo reviews from users – tap Search to see. So if you post a product review with photos, it will show up there. Pretty cool, right?
We also made a slew of fixes and enhancements behind the scenes, and added back the ability to remove a product from the product page (thanks for the heads-up on that, people who gave heads-ups).

Hellooo! It’s good to see you again. We only have a short amount of time on this earth, you know? Gotta make it count. So glad we had this talk.
Now you can add photos to product reviews! And they’ll start start appearing in more places. Go ahead, add a photo of yourself wearing the thing you’re reviewing. People often have questions about sizing so your photo will really help! And it just feels good to help people.
We also added tracking information to your orders, and sizing charts when available. And now when you swipe through the products in your Magic feed, you can tap to see more detail about the product before you yay or nay it. Cool.

Shopify merchants: It’s now possible to sell your products directly on Wanelo by installing the Wanelo Shopify App.
Available exclusively in the Shopify App Store, the app allows any of Shopify’s 100,000+ merchants to participate in “Buy on Wanelo”, making it possible to sell products directly on Wanelo.
We launched “Buy on Wanelo” in November as a result of users wanting an easier way to buy. They spend up to an hour each day on Wanelo discovering new stores and products, so it’s no surprise that our early tests showed “Buy on Wanelo” conversions to be 3x higher than our standard mobile conversions. Today, over 200 brands like Urban Outfitters and BCBG are selling directly on Wanelo to millions of users who come to do nothing but shop.
For us, it’s important to make it easier to discover and buy from brands both big and small, so our goal is to make it easier for shops like you to sell. There are over 2M independent online stores that people may never easily find, and Wanelo is the first to bring these all together.
To participate, Shopify store owners simply install the app in the Shopify App Store. Upon completion, Wanelo plugs into your store’s product catalog and enables your store for “Buy on Wanelo”. Orders placed on Wanelo are then automatically generated on your Shopify dashboard for fulfillment. It’s that easy!
Merchants already live with the Wanelo Shopify App include Seldom Seen, Rebeleer, Jiberish, Shop Jeen, Svelte Metals, Leif Shop, Adela Mei, Fizzm, and there are more installing the app every day.

“Buy on Wanelo” is a new feature that allows our millions of users to seamlessly purchase items from within Wanelo’s mobile app.
We’ve partnered with over 200 brands to make over half a million products available for sale directly from Wanelo. “Buy on Wanelo” is live for brands including Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal, Nicole Miller, Torn by Ronny Kobo, House of Harlow 1960, American Apparel, Rag & Bone, River Island, ModCloth, Azalea, Leif Shop and Zara Terez. And there are more on the way.

Wanelo Makes it Easier for Users to Shop with the Launch of ‘Buy on Wanelo’
500,000 products now purchasable directly on Wanelo with just one tap
San Francisco, CA - (November 24, 2014) - Wanelo (www.wanelo.com), a digital mall curated by millions of people to discover and buy unique products online, today announced the launch of “Buy on Wanelo”, a feature that allows users for the first time ever to seamlessly purchase items from within the app.
“Buy on Wanelo” offers the millions of people who shop on Wanelo an easy way to instantly purchase items they love directly from brands’ product pages. Shoppers will no longer be redirected to the retailers’ ecommerce sites to complete purchases, nor required to enter credit card information for each checkout.
With “Buy on Wanelo”, 500,000 products are now available for purchase. Shoppers on Wanelo will see a different “Buy” button on these products from stores who have partnered with the company to enable “Buy on Wanelo”. Shoppers simply tap the “Buy” button shown under the product, choose their size and color options, and tap “Place Order” to complete the purchase, which Wanelo will then process.
Wanelo’s traffic is 90 percent on mobile, and this summer, the company conducted early tests for “Buy on Wanelo” and found in-app conversions were three times higher than standard Wanelo mobile conversions.
Today, 200 brands ranging from large retailers to unique independent stores are live with “Buy on Wanelo”: Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal, Nicole Miller, Torn by Ronny Kobo, House of Harlow 1960, Leif Shop, Rag & Bone, River Island, ModCloth, Azalea, Seldom Seen and Zara Terez. More brands will be joining in the coming months.

And on top of all that, we just made it crazy easy to post products to Wanelo from Safari or other apps. Try our iOS 8 share extension! How? Go forth to Safari and tap the Share icon, then tap More and toggle on Wanelo. Drag it over so it’s easy to get to and BOOM: the world is your Wanelo. You can post products you come across while browsing the internet on your iPhone or iPad. It’s a wonderful thing.

On the most important social platform for retailers, discovery is everything and that starts with being active and engaged.
Brands like Urban Outfitters are seeing conversions from Wanelo at a rate 4x higher than other social networks simply by creating collections, adding the Wanelo save button and uploading product feeds.
But that’s not just it. Now, there’s another thing brands can actively do to get more visibility for their products on Wanelo: #hashtags
HOW HASHTAGS WORK ON WANELO
The purpose of hashtags on any social network is to create content categories or topics that people can follow. For brands, hashtags are used to monitor relevant conversations, promote products and run marketing campaigns.
Hashtags work on Wanelo just as you might expect on any other social network.
Users and stores can post hashtags in comments of products or stories by typing # + any keyword.
Each hashtag automatically turns into a clickable link that opens up its own hashtag page.
Hashtag pages can be viewed by anyone on Wanelo, and each page shows:
- all products tagged with that hashtag
- top five stores with the most products tagged with that hashtag
- related hashtags
- all stories tagged with that hashtag
HOW RETAILERS ARE USING HASHTAGS ON WANELO
Below are 3 ways stores can use hashtags on Wanelo to get the most visibility for their products:
1) Describe products with #hashtags for better SEO
2) Promote a new collection or sale using a #hashtag
3) Run contests encouraging users to tag products with a specified #hashtag
1) Describing products with #hashtags for better SEO
Stores on Wanelo are encouraged to comment on their own products using hashtags associated with their brand, products, collections or categories.
When used correctly, these types of hashtags can improve Wanelo SEO for brands by getting their products in front of consumers who are using and/or searching for those hashtags.
For example, a Nordstrom product titled “LEMON ‘Winter Flurries’ Slipper Socks” shows up in search results for #Fall and #Knit because Nordstrom added a comment with those tags.
2) Promoting a new collection or sale using a #hashtag
Stores can post stories to announce a new collection or sales to followers. Stories combine a group of products with editorial text that can contain hashtags and external links.
Forever 21 promoted their Barbie Loves Forever 21 collection on Wanelo using the #BarbieLovesF21 hashtag and linking to the collection on their site.
3) Running contests with #hashtags
Brands are hosting contests on Wanelo to engage users and gain visibility for their products.
One great way host a contest is to encourage users to post products from your store using a specified #hashtag.

For the first time ever, Wanelo now imports Product Feeds directly from retailers.
The impact of product feeds on your business is real.
Today, 54% of retail site traffic is driven by search and social, but according to the Search and Social Commerce Index (SSCI) Inaugural Report, only 1.7% of the 3 million products analyzed were posted to social sites.
This means retailers are missing an opportunity to both market their brand and merchandise to actively engaged audiences.
Brands such as Nordstrom, Sephora, Nike, Free People, Crate and Barrel, ModCloth, Yoox, Ssense, Forever 21, NastyGal and CB2 have all integrated product feeds with Wanelo, and here’s why:
1) Higher priority and visibility on Wanelo: Products verified by a product data feed are prioritized over non-verified products in the Wanelo experience.
2) Accurate product data and images: Your products are updated with accurate data (product titles, prices, availability, sizing, colors and images). Users on Wanelo can filter products by price, so having inaccurate pricing can substantially hurt the visibility of any given product.
3) Your entire product catalog is searchable on Wanelo: Product data feeds ensure your entire product catalog is searchable for increased exposure and distribution. This means products imported through feeds are discoverable in search regardless of whether or not they’ve been posted to Wanelo by users.
4) Sale promotions: Product feeds include both original and sale pricing. When a product drops in price, that product will be promoted via push notification to users who have saved that product. Sale items are also included in a special feed within the Wanelo app. Read more about it in Mobile Commerce Daily.
Now that we have your attention, here are a few things to know before uploading your product feed to Wanelo:
- Your feed must be in Google Shopping format
- Your feed must include your entire product catalog that includes high resolution images, as well as group and product IDs to provide for variance for multiple colored products with the same product URL.
- Products not included in the product data feed will be marked as out of stock on Wanelo and removed from search results and users’ feeds.
- Feed updates are processed once a day
- Your feed must include Product ID, Title, Price (MSRP), Sale Price, Link, Image Link, Availability, Item Group ID, Category, Description, Sizes and Colors
- Linking will not change from the current experience within Wanelo. All affiliate tracking will remain intact.
