- Microsoft Windows 95/NT4.0 or newer
- ODBC and Jet drivers. See below.
- 9mb free space for install. Only 3mb used once installed.
- Optional - 4.0+ Web browser for reports. Internet Explorer preferred.
- Optional - Internet connection - For updates and downloading test groups.
We recommend a Pentium 300mhz or better. Any PC that can run Windows 95 can
run MTT. Your test time only counts your response time once a question is
displayed. The time MTT takes to set up each question is not included so
computer speed is not really that important.
ODBC and Jet Drivers
Applies to Microsoft Windows 95/98 or NT 4.* not Me/2000
MTT requires ODBC and Microsoft Jet drivers. These come with Windows Me and
2000. In 95/98/NT4 ODBC is installed
by default. However, during installation of Windows you could choose not to
install ODBC. Microsoft Jet drivers come with products like Microsoft
Office but can be
downloaded legally from the link below.
The quickest way to determine if you have what is needed is to run MTT. If
you don't have the requirements MTT will issue a message that you need MDAC
and Jet Drivers and MTT will not start. MTT will also launch your browser and
send you to this page.
If you get the error message when running MTT the very first time do the
following....
- Click Start/Settings/Control Panel.
- In Control Panel there should be an icon for "ODBC Data Sources(32
Bit)". If there is you only need Jet drivers. If there is none you need to install MDAC and Jet
drivers.
- If needed download MDAC
(from Microsoft's web site).
- Download Microsoft
Jet Drivers (from Microsoft's web site).
- Important...if needed, MDAC must be installed BEFORE Jet drivers! Install the download(s).
If you get the error message any time other than when you install MTT your
"General" test group is somehow corrupt. You can download a new
group from options.
The reason these are not added to MTT's install is their size. Each is more
than 6mb. Most people do not need these files at all.
Many day trading systems however require both MDAC and Jet.
