    Dr. Ken Mandadakis Hons. Bsc, O.D.

 

 

     Dr. Ken was born and raised in North York and received his Honours Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Toronto in 1997. His specialty there was in human nutrition and disease. He then completed his optometric studies at the State University of New York, State College of Optometry in Manhattan in 2001. Dr. Mandadakis’ training included

4  years of diagnosing, managing and treating glaucoma patients at the Glaucoma Institute of New York, one of North America’s largest and most advanced glaucoma centers. He was also a staff member at Montrose and Castle Point hospitals in Westchester, New York.

 

     Dr. Mandadakis is also fully trained and certified in New York State to prescribe topical and oral medications in order to treat diseases and disorders of the eye and the surrounding tissues.

 

     Dr. Mandadakis can also be found at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) where he is a staff doctor, providing Low Vision Services to help visually impaired individuals of all ages to be better able to get through their activities of daily living. He is also the Clinical Director of the Convento de Belen Rehabilitation Centre in Havana, Cuba. He travels there yearly to provide eye care to children under the age of 14.

 

     Other interests include Vision Therapy (functional eye muscle and coordination exercises to help children improve their reading comfort, performance and skill) and Laser Refractive Surgery. Dr. Mandadakis is an active member in the Greek Community, a PROUD member of the Toronto Doctors LIONS CLUB and is fluent in English and Greek. He is married and has two sons.
