High Tech Testing

In addition to the comprehensive eye examinations provided, our patients will benefit from state-of-the-art technology such as:

 DIGITAL RETINAL IMAGING

(a specialized camera that images the inside of the eye, such as this picture taken of a patient with macular degeneration). This enables us to better diagnose and monitor any conditions affecting the eye such as diabetes, high blood pressure and autoimmune disorders.

  ANTERIOR SEGMENT IMAGING:

A different specialized camera that images the front section of the eye including the cornea, the eye lids, the sclera and conjunctiva as well as cataracts.

The picture on the left has a normal lens while the one on the right has a dense cataract. The lens is the structure behind the iris (the coloured part of the eye).

  VISUAL FIELD TESTING:

A machine with complex computer programming that measures how well the optic nerve is functioning and how well the signal your eye receives is transferred to the brain. This test can help in the diagnosis of glaucoma, pituitary tumors as well as other brain disorders. We are one of the few clinics to have the newest Octopus 900 kinetic visual field machine in Ontario.

   CORNEAL TOPOGRAPHY:

A computerized instrument that creates a visual map of the surface of your cornea. With this machine, precise measurements are taken and then used in the proper fitting of your eye with a contact lens. This machine can also be used to diagnose and monitor conditions such as keratoconus.
