Starzone 4000

The Starzone 4000 system is the premier VVT system that has evolved from the accumulation of the experience and knowledge Zone All Controls has acquired in manufacturing easy to use packaged VVT temperature control systems since 1987.

Unlike conventional DDC systems, the Starzone 4000 is a packaged system, meaning it is specifically designed for its intended use. This make the system less costly, easier to install and wire, easier to operate, does not require complicated programming, and the operating system has more depth and features than a conventional DDC system.

The Starzone 4000 system begins with the Master control panel. Designed to control 2 stage heat/cool AHU's, the Master control panels can be interfaced to a common communication bus back to our Starcom Building Software. The entire system can then be accessed over the internet. Through the software we provide unlimited FREE technical support for the life of the system. Individual zones and AHU's can be trend logged, several test modes allow for easy problem diagnose, and the systems operation can be tailored to the building by locking out thermostat set points, establishing maximum and minimum damper position, and much more.

In addition to the main AHU's the thermostats can incorporate auxiliary heating devices such as electric, or hot water baseboards, and duct heaters.

Zone dampers can be added to individual zones, or the entire system can be expanded to a full VVT control system with the addition of a by-pass damper.

SZM-4000 Master Controller

The heart of the Starzone 4000 system is the Starzone Master Controller. The SZM-4000 Master controller interfaces to the air handling unit (AHU) through a series of industry standard isolation relays. Each AHU that is to be zoned will have its own SZM-4000 Master panel. Each panel can operate independently, or be networked together back to a central PC.

  • Controls the temperature of up to 32 zones.
  • Controls heat/cooling/fan modes of 2 stage HVAC units.
  • The Master panel has contacts for change-over valves, allowing the controller to interface to heat pump units.
  • Perimeter radiation, or duct heaters are controlled directly by each zone thermostat.
  • Starzone Building Software allows the user to view set-point, ambient, outside, and discharge air temperatures. The user can over-ride thermostat set points, set damper max/min. positions, set Master controllers and thermostats to heat only, or cool only operation.
  • The Starcom software can perform trend logging, reports, problem scanning and much more, but is simple enough to allow building owners to adjust settings and verify system operation.
SZT-4000 Thermostats

The Starzone 4000 thermostat is a fully programmable micro-processor based thermostat with several features. It offers 2 hour night set back override, 24 hour trend log history, damper override test mode, and can be interfaced to an auxiliary heat source such as an electric or hot water baseboard, or duct heater.

  • Adjustable set point range 19C to 25C (66F to 78F)
  • Display indicates room temperature, space temperature, time, heat/cool mode, and label.
  • 24 hour trend log
  • Damper test mode
Zone Dampers

The fully modulating zone dampers, model AVD's are available in 6", 8", 10", 12", 14", and 16" round sizes. Upon request we can provide any size of rectangular damper. Our dampers feature elliptical blades for a more linear response and consist of two steel blades fastened together separated by an air tight neoprene gasket for quiet operation.

By-Pass Damper

As the individual zone dampers modulate close during a heating or cooling demand, the static pressure in the remaining zones would normally increase proportionately. The Relief Air Damper (RAD) modulates to maintain a constant static pressure by relieving or by-passing the system air back to the return air inlet or ceiling space.

RAD dampers, like the zone dampers are available in 6", 8", 10", 12", 14", and 16" round sizes or any custom rectangular size.

Starcom Hub and Building Software

Each SZM-4000 Master control panel can communicate back to the Starcom Hub. The Starcom Building software communicates with each Master controller and provides a wide variety of options including, trend logging, set point temperature override, occupied scheduling, remote interface over the internet, damper maximum, and minimum positions, and much more.

While the Starcom Building software offers all of the features of a full energy management system at a fraction of the cost, what seperates it most from all other systems is the easy-to-use, easy-to-understand interface. The Starcom Building software was designed to be used by the end user, not a highly trained building maintenance technician.

TSA (Temperature Supply Air)

This sensor monitors the discharge air temperature to protect the HVAC unit from freeze-up and overheat. In the event the discharge air temperature rises or falls outside the adjustable range the Master Controller will first disengage the second stage of heating/cooling, and if the discharge temperature continues to rise/fall, then the Master will disengage the first stage demand. Five minutes after the air temperature has returned to a normal temperature the system will resume operation.

TOA (Temperature Outdoor Air)

This sensor monitors the outside air temperature and provides control for:

  • Automatic lockout of heating functions.
  • Automatic lockout of auxiliary heating functions (baseboard/duct heaters)
  • Automatic adjustment of damper maximum position during cooling demands.
STA Stand Alone Damper

Save time and money and get all you need in one package. the Model STA heat/cool changeover stand alone damper and thermostat gives room temperature control by fully modulating the warm and cold air flow from your central HVAC system.

Features

  • Advanced micro-processor technology
  • Auxilary heat relay for duct heaters or baseboards.
  • Duct temperature sensor to control both heating and cooling modes.
  • Ventilation mode during periods of no demand.
  • Damper test mode allows user to test all damper and auxiliary heat functions.
