Mr. Michael Dean “Mike” Chappelear, age 58, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born June 7, 1956, in Royston, he was the son of the late Henry Ray and Mildred (Grubbs) Chappelear. He was employed with White’s Used Cars for 23 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Jean Scott, Catherine Chappelear and Rebecca Dowis; brothers: Kenneth Chappelear, Bobby Chappelear and McRoss Chappelear.
He is survived by his sisters: Arthurlene Ethridge, Bonnie Elliott, Jane King and Debbie Johnson; one brother: Dale Chappelear; a step-grandson: Braxtyn, whom he adored; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 14, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at other times the families will be at their respective homes.
