Hole 1

A great start to this wonderful course.
Fairway and waste bunkering right and left will require an accurate tee shot. A mid-iron lay-up to the top of the slope about 100 yards from the green will set up a down hill approach to a gentle green set naturally within mature Fir and Pine trees.

Fun drivable risk reward Par 4, giving the player plenty of options from tee to green.
The large waste bunker left will direct play to a narrow fairway in order to set up an approach to a well bunkers green with water closer than you think on the right. This will be a birdie hole with a smart strategic play.

Hole 5

Great Par 4 to begin a sequence of holes that are second to one in Canada.
The Par 4 – 5th is highlighted by a natural sand dune formation crossing the hole at about the 280 yard mark from the back tees that needs to be avoided if you want any chance of Par on this Hole.

Hole 6

Enjoy the great view of Fisher Peak before teeing off on the “escarpment hole”.
Any balls left will meet a watery grave in the St. Mary’s River far below, so it is best to aim for the left centre of the fairway and allow the slop to take the ball right to set an approach to a small subtle green. Watch for swirling wind and if you are lucky, an Eagle could be spotted soaring above.

Hole 7

Options are plenty on the downhill 7th Hole.
The safe play is to go for the low fairway on the left to set up for a slightly uphill approach to the largest green on the course. For those who think they “got game” and like a bit of risk in their life, go for the high right fairway for an easier approach and possible birdie.

With water low to the right and a green set into a natural bowl, and accurate tee shot is called for and for those who choose to play the back tees – good luck.

Hole 9

Great Par 5 finish to the nine at Shadow Mountain that will require thought and patience.
The rolling natural terrain will provide some uneven lies on this hole so take note. It will take two strong shots to reach this green in two and the waste bunkers left are no place that you want to be.

Finding the fairway on the 10th will ask for a well struck tee ball.
Beware of the large waste area low to the right of the landing area and play for the middle of this large green. It is best to play away form any pins to the right, as this could lead to bogey or worse.

Hole 11

One of the most natural holes you will find at Shadow Mountain.
The tee shot is best placed at the centre of the fairway to allow the contour to move it right to set up one of the most difficult approaches on the course, to a green set on a natural bench. Anything short and right will be gobbled up by the large waste bunker. Par will be a great score on the 11th.

The tee shot is to one of the many low bowls on the course that is flanked by bunkers right and left. Two good shots will get you to the green, but it will be best to play this Par 5 as a three-shotter and enjoy the walk.

Hole 17

Another great view and downhill hole that requires accuracy from the tee to reach the narrow Par 5 fairway resting 100 feet below.
For success on the 17th it is best to lay-up to the top of the hill about 150 yards from the green, as trees and water are very much in play. This will set up an approach to a small green, tucked into the trees and protected by a pond to the left.
