The Johansen Larsen Foundation works to enhance the lives of those marginalized in our communities, through supporting inclusive initiatives that foster learning and well-being.

Where it all started…

The foundation was established to honour the wishes of Boje Johansen, his indomitable spirit, commitment to education and hard work.

The Johansen Larsen Foundation is a grant making organization. We give grants to registered non-profits and charities that offer programming to enrich the lives of all those (both human and animal) who are marginalized in our communities. We emphasize the importance of initiatives that offer transformative learning opportunities, which are both accessible and inclusive.

“We believe that learning should be reciprocal and transformative. Listening and learning are the biggest tools towards creating change.”

— Marianne Larsen, President

Since 2009, The JL Foundation has granted almost $2.5 million dollars to over 100 different charities all across Canada.

Forging Ahead

In 2020, we undertook a strategic re-envisioning process for our foundation, to best support our grantees and create impact. We are pleased to share our 2020-2025 Strategic Plan.
