The stars aligned and some of the clones wandering Lvl Up found the original B-man himself! I'm beyond thrilled we were able to get this shot, it all happened so fast and I'm so glad it worked out. 🤩

This was Alex Brightman's first convention, and I know he's planning on more! He really was a delight to meet, and such a pro at managing poses. I asked him if he was having a good first convention and he responded very positively, so hope y'all can catch him at future cons!

Phantom on a Budget Website Redesign!

I am excited to announce that the Phantom on a Budget website has been completely rebuilt and relaunched! It features a more modern, streamlined, and mobile friendly design. I added more reference materials for cosplayers, costume planning resources, Maria Bjornson sketches, mask paint instructions, and more.

His head is made by ruedimentary.redshift on Instagram with a few repairs and touch-ups by myself! His paws were made by my bestie sweetheart_iri on Instagram as well! Ok there was legitimately one photo reference that I went into lvlup wanting to recreate and decided to do so in spite of the fact that I didn't finish my musical Lydia cosplay, this was it!

THE COSTUME IS DONE!!!! Very happy with it, I wanted to make it extra grody, and I think I delivered. The quality of the photos aren't the best... might take some more later. BTW the handbook is almost done! I'll post that soon!

There's that meme out there that's like "you grow up wanting to be Lydia and then end up being Delia when you're an adult," but uhhh I took a look at my life and went "oh I'm actually Barbara." Though honestly, once a goth nerd, always a goth nerd! 😂 My mom could have been Geena Davis's doppelganger in the 90s (and still could honestly), so really it was a matter of time before I put together a Barbara Maitland look!

When this dress is completely finished, I'll finish up the write-up that I started on this, but until I finish handpainting the daisies, here's where we're at for now. I was able to get almost the entire way around the skirt and because I had previously smashed together 2 Amazon dresses making one very swooshy, full wrap dress, I used safety pins to cover the unpainted sections of the skirt. Thankfully in the demos, she wears a cardigan, so I was able to cover the fact that I also haven't finished painting the bodice for the evening. It was actually pretty chilly at Wondercon, so changing into a cosplay with a sweater was ideal!

Anyways, Alex Brightman is a delight and I'm very glad I had the chance to meet him at Lvl Up. He was a pro with directing poses quickly and efficiently and still making sure to chat a little. I also love that print so much, I'm so glad he has it available!

i put together the whole thing myself which was a real labor of love lol- sewing the appliqués on the cloak, stretching the hat with steam to fit the mask, making velvet cuffs and a collar for the tailcoat, etc. (mask is from Studio D FX and the lacefront wig (that u can’t even see 💀) is from Arda Wigs !)
