North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority

NBMCA was founded in 1972 by the Province of Ontario.
As a community-based, non-profit environmental organization, NBMCA is dedicated to
conserving, restoring, developing and managing renewable natural resources on a watershed basis.
NBMCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities who are members of Conservation Ontario.
NBMCA acknowledges that we are in Robinson-Huron Treaty territory, the Traditional Territory and Treaty Lands
of the Nbisiing Anishinaabeg, as well as the unceded and ancestral Traditional Territory
of the Algonquin People and the Metis Nation.

Flood Watch for Lake Nipissing Shoreline in North Bay, Callander, and Parks Creek subwatershed

May 16, 2024

(North Bay May 16, 2024). A Flood Watch notifies that the potential for flooding exists within specific watercourses and municipalities. Municipalities, emergency services and individual landowners in flood-prone areas should prepare.

“Lake Nipissing's water level is below its maximum 'non-damage' level, and it is continues to decrease with reduced inflows," explained Angela Mills, the Flood Duty Officer at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA).

Parks Creek Backflood Control Operations

Flood Warning continues for the Lake Nipissing shoreline in the City of North Bay and Municipality of Callander and the Parks Creek watershed

A Flood Warning continues for the Lake Nipissing shoreline in the City of North Bay and Municipality of Callander and the Parks Creek watershed. A Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety has been issued for the La Vase River downstream of Lakeshore Drive in North Bay, according to the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA).

“Lake Nipissing's water level is just below its maximum 'non-damage' level, and it is anticipated that the levels on Lake Nipissing will continue to decline this week," explained Githan Kattera, the Flood Duty Officer at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA). Minimal rainfall is forecasted for the next 5 days, he added.
