Because groundwater continuously provides baseflow to rivers and regulates their temperature.

News was recently released regarding open grant applications for water-related projects under the BC Watershed Security Fund.
The grants are being administered by the First Nations Fisheries Council and the Real Estate Foundation of BC.
Funding themes include:

Watershed collaboration, planning and governance
-
Watershed and ecosystem restoration
-
Nature-based infrastructure
-
Watersheds and food systems
-
Monitoring and assessment
-
Land and water-based learning, and intergenerational knowledge
Three groups of funding are available with grants from $50,000 to $500,000
Elligible groups include:

Registered non-profits
-
Educational institutions
-
First Nations governments, councils and groups
-
Local and regional governments
According to their website (Grants - Watershed Security Fund) there will be two grant intakes in 2024/2025
CURRENT INTAKE: Opens June 3, 2024 – Closes June 26, 2024
Second intake: Late 2024 for Spring 2025 grants (Specific dates to be announced)
