Peter Duffus is the Managing Partner of Future Acceptance Corp. (www.futureacceptance.ca). An entrepreneur and successful business consultant for more than 35 years, he began his career in the automobile industry and later finance. Peter's Grandfather, Senator J.J. Duffus, introduced the Model T to Central Ontario in the autumn of 1908 and by 1917 was Ontario's largest automobile retailer. Following in his Grandfather's and Father's footsteps, Peter has been president and CEO of a number of leasing and finance companies as well as new car dealerships and is a three time nominee for TIME Magazine's Quality Dealer Award. For well over a hundred years the Duffus family had been in the automobile business, longer than any other family in Canada.

Twenty years ago Peter was invited to become an associate with Mercana Growth Partners, one of Canada's, oldest merchant banking companies.He continues in merchant banking today and is also a registered lobbyist both federally and provincially.

He is a lifelong environmentalist and respected solar facilitator having solid experience with green strategic action plans.

Peter helps clients navigate the complex governmental process at all three levels. He diligently worked in policy and politics for decades Additionally, Peter has an unparallel network of leading environmental lawyers, accountants and bankable engineers throughout the province. Working with a Premier's Chief of Staff and other senior government officials he successfully helped amend the FIT 111 solar program to better suit stakeholders.Peter participated in the largest solar roof top initiative in Canada at the time. He is also the lead person charged with turning the Municipality of Milton into one of Canada's greenest.

Peter is known for his collaborative approach to public policy issues and stakeholders engagement, facilitating trusted relationships and emphasizing the importance of building partnerships to work towards desired outcomes

Peter has been a consultant for the Mayor of Milton (Canada's fastest growing municipality) and served on the Halton Urban Structural Review Board, the main blueprint for growth in the region of Halton. His clients have ranged from author Margaret Atwood's Syngraffi Corporation to publicly traded Medical Marijuana Companies. Peter has also worked on behalf of the CEO's of a number of public companies including Dominion Bridge, American Eco., Molly Maid International, McKay and Hughes (North America's largest distributor of potatoes), Maple Trust, Lease Bank Corp, Community Futures Development Corp., the Business Development Bank of Canada.

Peter is a direct descendent, on his Mother's side, of a UEL family and thus has deep roots in Canada, 1778, John Depew, the original settler of what was to become Hamilton.

He has been an active community volunteer where ever he was living, He is a City of Peterborough Citation Award Recipient. Peter has been nominated two years in a row as the East Kawartha Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, recognized for mentoring young business people and youth, as well as his work with war veterans.

He was a member of the campaign raising funds for the Milton District Hospital Foundation CT scanner and Diagnostic Imaging. He has been a director of the Milton Chamber of Commerce and a two-time nominee for the city's Business Person of the year, Chairman and Director of the Milton United Way, a member of the Milton Optimist Club, Zone Leader of the Halton Salvation Army Appeal, Vice Chairman and charter member of the North Halton Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, Charter member, Director and fundraising chair of the World Interfaith Educational Association, and member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Peter was President and Director of the Halton Federal Liberal Association, Vice President and Director of the Halton Provincial Liberal Association, President of the Federal Liberal Golden Horseshoe Region, and as such, served as a director of the Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario). He is the author of the Liberal Party's National fundraising initiative, The Victory Fund. Peter is also an avid skier and sailor.
