Sarah Shaw
Sarah Shaw's enigmatic oil paintings inhabit the liminal space between figuration and abstraction. Working primarily on wood panels and canvases, her process involves building up and stripping away layers to excavate color from familiar contexts. Shaw's recent series like "Diableries" (2022) and "ARCANA" (2022 Whistleblower Gallery solo show) exemplify her stark, lucid explorations of temporality through paint's materiality. A 1999 Falmouth graduate, Shaw has exhibited extensively, with over 30 group shows and 8 solos globally. Her work resides in collections of musicians like Thom Yorke and has earned her accolades including the British Women Artists prize (2017) and prestigious shortlistings.
