Welcome to The Barrie Canoe & Kayak Club (BCKC)
Since 1977, the Barrie Canoe and Kayak Club, has grown to an organisation of 300+ paddlers who enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and stand up paddling.
Join the Paddling Fun with Trips & Activities!
The Club offers a wide variety of recreation paddling opportunities for all levels of paddling experience. If you are just looking for a few moments kayaking on Kempenfelt Bay or a two week wilderness canoe adventure, the Club will have what you are looking for. Our trips range from day trips to the Minesing Swamp to weekends kayaking the Thirty Thousand Islands of Georgian Bay. Long weekends will find club members tripping in Algonquin Park or Moving-water paddling the Ottawa or Madawaska Rivers. Extended week (or longer) trips have found us on Lake Superior, Quetico Provincial Park or kayaking the Newfoundland shore.
We also try to keep ourselves visible in the community through attendance at Celebrate Barrie and Paddlefest. As a community service, the Club provides equipment to not-for-profit groups such as church, schools and environmental groups.
COURSES & CLINICS
Several members of the BCKC are certified Ontario Recreational Canoe & Kayak Association (ORCKA) instructors. As a result, the BCKC offers a number of paddling courses, ranging from beginner to advanced instruction. Check out our courses page for a full description.
