Children’s Lands

Children’s Lands (ANIA) is an international organization that inspires the creation of a new indicator of development; one that recognizes the contribution of children to the well-being of society. The Children’s Lands’ Initiative acknowledges the sacredness of childhood.  It also recognizes that it is during these formative years that young people develop the values and attitudes that are carried throughout their adult lives. Communities throughout the world have embraced this initiative by donating ecologically diverse areas of land to children, and supporting them as they take on the role of care-takers, decision-makers and visionaries for all that will unfold on that land.

The children take actions that benefit themselves, their communities, and the natural world. They see the impact they have on the land, in addition to the impact the land has on them.  This initiative enables children to develop the knowledge and values that are needed to confront current environmental problems and, in the process, strengthen their own self-esteem and loving connection with nature.

Planting seeds of Hope is honoured to be the home of the first Children’s Lands site in North America.  For more information on Children’s Lands designation please visit:
